Simple fix - stop building data centers in the valley that waste millions of gallons of water a day.

Not allowing data centers, that demand exorbitant amounts of water, would do the most to solve the water problem

AZ doesn’t have a water crisis. It has a population crisis.

Water crisis. Why is everything a crisis these days. Control by fear.

We had a desal plant back in the 80s, but they dismantled it and gave it to Kuwait.

If it was that easy, then California would have done it already. It's not economical.

I didn't realize there was a crisis. AZ is using LESS water than they were 70 years ago.

Desalination plants like ours in AZ could be used to collect the rare earth minerals and useful chemicals abundant in the ocean, cleaning it and giving us access to hard-to-source materials for cheap prices at the same time. There is research into refining the off-products of R/O, I hope all these intersecting goals can combine

The brine byproduct is more hazardous than using less water than you need.

Battery chemistry based on sodium will rather then lithium will dominate the market for grid balancing battery installations in the near future. If the brine created by RO drinking water production can be further processed to be used in battery construction, and prove to be profitable. That would solve the waste brine disposal problem. Desalination water is an expensive proposition, and requires careful and realistic planning. Conservation of existing water resources may be a more sensible solution.
