Thanks for sharing. I've learned your real name. 😊 Why Bazz?
@TheApprenticeRetiree17 күн бұрын
Oh Bazz or Bazza are nicknames used by friends. It seems to be a common practice in both New Zealand where I am originally from and Australia where I now reside.

That is far more than we get in the UK and it's freezing here at the moment.

Yes and I understand the cost of power in the UK is very expensive as well. It must be tough being a pensioner in the UK, especially over winter. Thanks for sharing.

You should also create some videos about Australia, especially if it is a good country for pensioners. 😊

Good idea Meg. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I hope your new year has started well for you.

British pension is approx $1745 aus dollars = £884.80, no wonder we cant afford to put the heating on. Well done with your budgeting xx

Thanks Sheila. Wow that’s quite a difference and I’m guessing your cost of living would not be cheap either. No wonder I see more and more channels popping up about Brits live ng in their vehicles.

@@TheApprenticeRetiree I currently live on £600 a month, and have lived on that level which is inflation linked for the past 17 years! I guess that's classed as abject poverty, I still manage to run several vehicles and go on holiday in my motorhome.

@@Peakwanderer That sounds amazing, a story worth sharing I reckon. Is that a little Honda ST70 in your profile image? I bet it runs on the smell of an oily rag. Thanks for sharing your experience.

@@TheApprenticeRetiree Well spotted it's a UK spec ST50 12v moped version modded a bit, I had a blue ST70 as a teenager. If you search for Wildbad chippy run on here you'll see the bike in action, I'd put a link here but KZbin seems to hide them these days.

Interesting experiment. If you had to save money, could you do so? It seems like you're spending everything almost up to the pension amount. I'll have to look at the American channel for the comparison.

Yes check Buzz’s channel out. Doubt if I could save Much as this current month I expect to go over due to a road trip to visit my son There are areas I could cut back on. Will probably discuss these on future video. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts

We are retired and I have to say - there is no way we could live on your figures in Victoria. Our base costs are much higher (even with researching and juggling providers) and we receive less pension. Well done.

Thanks for your input. I think we are pretty lucky in WA. I’ve lived here since 2012 when I moved over from NZ. I know the cost of living in New Zealand is higher over there but didn’t think there would be a big difference between our states. In future videos I will discuss how I keep some of my expenses down such as using solar power.

The video had some interest ie can or how can pensioners lived on fixed maybe pension income but I don't think ppl are interested in the minutiae of a person's invidual budget as we all have a budget

'Sundries' ,, indeed it does .. we say sundrees' ( uk) ,,,, Pension wise,, i am not entitled to the full amount ( lack of contributions) so keep on working to make sufficient income to cover costs and emergencies. No vehicle expenses or monthly home costs to pay,, so that helps.

Thanks for sharing Dave. Yes I think more and more pensioners rely on working a job or finding some way to bolster their income just to get by. I’m still running an ice cream business part time which helps but due to my health I know I won’t be able to do this that much longer. In Australia the sun certainly still dries thanks for taking the time to comment Dave

@daveluck5717 I'm in Australia and I've never heard sundries pronounced the way 'Bazz' said it. I picked up a tiny bit of a N.Z. accent so maybe it's from there.

We have over 12million over 65s in UK. So these kind of channels talking to pensioners must have some merit now and many years into future with increasing age exoectancy

I agree Oliver and it’s interesting that a large proportion of viewers on this channel are from the UK.

@TheApprenticeRetiree that's because the State Pension is relatively low compared to many European countries
