In case anyone was wondering, Toine commented on his post with this "Ties can't happen (they have resolution rules like a Top Cut to turn a 0-0 into 1-0 or a 1-1 into a 2-1) A 0-2 loss is 0 points, while a 1-2 loss is 1 point." So no ties but a 1-2 loss is worth 1 point, thats good to see!

I mean, they did explain that it was going to be when they both had time and more a passion project type series without a schedule or time frame. Not like they both don’t already have a lot going on, and Azul traveling across the ocean or anything but ok

Agree with the terrible format set-up. One 6month format, one 1.5month format, and then a 3month format… this needs adjustment ASAP!!

Big tournament structures are a balance between making the sets as competitive as possible, while still making the day(s) finish in a reasonable time. My ideal structure still would allow IDs, but I don't mind double loss for ties conceptually. What feels bad in the Japanese format is punishing the winner of match that completes a 3 game set in time. You guys touched on giving the loser of a 3 game set a match point, I like that, but I for sure dislike taking away from the winner. The whole point is to incentivize matches/game pace that can finish a 3-game set, and that doesn't do hit that mark IMO. I'm also not a fan of artificially pushing out stall/control. The gameplay is not the most interesting at times, but I think it adds another compelling layer to gameplay and deck building whenever its present. If TPCI don't like it's presence, it really feels like an issue best tackled in game design.

Yup as someone from Singapore who has played in both the TPCi circuit (bo3) and TPC Japan circuit (bo1), I’ll take bo3 any day of the week. People wishing for bo1 have no earthly idea what they are wishing for, it’s the worst way to play Pokémon having played both.

Re: United Wings - i think the deck's damage output and deck space issue could've been fixed by giving Honchkrow or Kilowattrel a united wings attack that had higher base damage, like "60+ 20 per UW in discard" that was still titled "united wings" so the stage 1 counts toward the overall damage count. Or something along those lines. A 30× multiplier would obviously be too much

Agree with Azul about Xerosic's Scheme. It's not amazing in a general meta where everyone is playing all their things, and it's really not that difficult to be wary of the effect and play around or into it. What does it do against an established board that's primed to kill you and draw its last prizes? There's potential for it to be a great "Gottem!" card if you catch your Lost Box opponent with their pants down and a full grip. But that ceiling is so very unlikely in most cases that we should be looking at and playing the card for its bottom of the line floor value, which is not great to useless against aggressively developed board that's just eating up its prize cards and already playing all its cards.

Xerosic's Scheme is going to be a meta-call sort of tech so of how Tord ran his Zard deck with Professor Turo's Scenario + Team Yell's Cheer to counter the stall meta in EUIC. If Lost Box or Stall becomes meta and they got too complacent due to Xerosic not having a presence, then you might see Xerosic's Scheme as a one or two of.

@@grin_of_grimmsnarl1333 pretty much, but it has a niche and punishes the meta if caught unaware. So wouldn't say it is completely useless but it is very meta dependant and the meta right now doesn't really call for large hands outside of Lost box or Stall.

With Japan changing its format, what about also looking at what other games do for their formats, except Bo3. Ex. Lorcana does a 2 Game Format with 3 points a win per game, if you 2-0 opponent, 1 bonus point for total 7 points on line.

I really don’t love lorcana’s format. Means you have to 2-0 basically everybody. Pokemon’s best of 3 only suffers in terms of time. I like how forgiving it

Mateusz is also destroying the online tournaments, it'd be probably helpful to look at the online lists for Banette (also Mateusz himself is always stating that the deck is absolutely broken, just hard to pilot, he'd probably have more finishes but unfortunately this year he is busy with his Matura, which is basically Polish SAT)

22:43 im not a big bo1 fan. but i think the main reason bo1 sucks for those players is they play the same amout of rounds as us we just get 2.5x the amout of games so variance is lower. If you could do bo1 with lets say 15 rounds day one that would solve alot of the problems (although i still like bo3 more)

To azul's point about the point difference between 2-0 and 2-1 I think the reason its 1 less point is to discourage just marking your opponent as having won a game to help with your resistance.
