Jesse Marsch just took a worse squad than the USMNT past a better group with world cup winner Argentina and with Peru and Chile who are both higher ranked than Panama and Bolivia 🤦‍♂He also did that with barely any time or preparation. Marsch failed miserably during his sub par showing at Leeds. He is not an upper echelon manager. If I was in charge of the USMNT with the Olympics in 2 years , I would put everything I had behind getting Marcello Bielsa fir those 2 years to get the best out of what's available.

Seemed like our players don't understand the reason why teams like Uruguay counter attack so fast. If you hold the ball in the open field you get taken out. You dribble in the other teams penalty box because they can't foul you. We held the ball too long a lot and those teams are well schooled in shutting down space while one guy dribbles. As cynical as it is defensively, you get stuck in and if you don't get the ball then get the man. That's how the Americas have always played.

Players should be worried about losing their spot in the USNMT. But if you dont have players fighting for those spots, they become complacent. Depth is needed in the roster. I've been following football pundits on KZbin covering Copa America in both English and Spanish, and there's a consensus that the United States of America should not be hosting the tournament. Our friends south of the border are feeling anger and resentment because the USA, with lots of American dollars, is hosting the CA tournament. The display of animosity was apparent when, at the end of the game, Christian Pulisic, the captain of the American team, attempted to shake hands with the South American officials. However, they refused to shake his hand. This act was seen as despicable and disrespectful to the USA, which had graciously agreed to host the tournament after Ecudaro said they couldn't host. As a result of this hater, the USMNT players were punished by our friends from south of the border.

USMNT has no identity. They have no playstyle, no cohesion. They need structure, discipline. Im from Europe, and its night and day the playstyle I see over here and the US playing in the Copa America. Their players leave massive gaps, their midfield is nonexistent, their structure falls apart on both offense and defense, they have no creativity. It’s a mess, they have tons of talented players, so the blame is most likely on the coach. But maybe its the structure of soccer in the US. There is no one playstyle in this country, so its just a bunch of individuals playing in different systems across Europe that come together for the national team and have no idea how to play together. US federation needs to monopolize youth soccer in this country and develop an American playstyle that would lead to cohesion.

Do to his coaching record or you just love Arsenal. You hire a guy like that to get people on the seats at a stadium. This team has no problem doing that.

@@mokhodabandeh2712 Fair question. For one, I think it’s more realistic and I believe he would take the job. We could actually afford him. He was the manager for Montreal during covid which wasn’t easy and was an assistant coach for Belgium. He’s played under some of the greatest coaches of all time and would be respected by the team. Again, I’m sure his staff would be amazing and I’m sure he has some of those amazing coaches on speed dial. I think the squad really likes Berhalter and I think Henry would keep morale up. Lastly, bring in new energy.

@@onewithvision8970 He is actually the France u21/olympic coach currently. He also coached at Monaco (not the best place to coach). Although he has been an assistant under many good coaches I don’t think we want experimenting with him as a head coach at international level. Additionally his media and other business interests would not afford him the proper time US requires. Wales quickly rethought their interest in him as of this week.

The USA did really well in my opinion. You have to keep in mind that soccer is not even in the top 5 sports, it’s like asking Brazil or Argentina to compete in NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, etc…England has EPL, when was the last time they won a World Cup? I don’t think the USA will ever win a major tournament, at least for the next 100 years. Just be happy they are pretty good!

Not once did this group identify the problems and issues of every player. I would say, nepotism got in the way of selecting these players from an early age. Throw it all away. This is the way.

Its easy to blame the coach...but the reality is that those players have no chemistry together...they seem uninterested (apathy)....running hard but without direction....they seem disjointed playing together. With all the time these young men spend playing apart in their respective clubs and together one would think there would be carry over discipline in the basics of the game. When a team is unpredictable like this team, it is because they lack discipline. So, Is that the coach's fault? Or is that the players? My gut feeling is that no coach can fix this lack of heart from the players....so when the decide on a coaching change, they also need to seek new players also and see where their heart is.

Say what you want about the USMNT and Berhalter, but the bottom line is, when you compare the Copa to the Euros; Copa America is barely watchable! It's been like watching the WWE! The constant falling down all over the pitch and dirty play has been abysmal! The tournament organizers need to reevaluate the play in this tournament. It's terrible!

Why do kids have to pay to play in the US? You’re going to consistently miss out on genuine talent because of it. This is the first thing I’d scrap if you have any hope of finding some genuine talent in the future.

What do US fans expect of this team? It plays in CONCACAF where your biggest rivals are Canada and a poor Mexico that consistently loses to the US. That should be embarrassing for Mexico that has a great history and some world class players over the years. Now its just mediocre.
