NBA coaches aren't drawing up plays like NFL coaches...nowhere near that. It's more about personality management and basic understanding of what works and doesn't work against each team. He should work his way up like anyone else.

JJ Redick is drawing up plays on a clip board with zero opposition and there is no coach on the other end to adjust to. How is that impressive? This is like the Dallas Cowboys hiring me for OC because my plays work in Madden's "offense only" practice mode. Of course all of his x's and o' will work on a podcast because he literally isn't coaching against anyone. I cant believe that people are impressed with that. I feel like people only vouch for him because Lebron wants him.

All I'm gonna say is throwing out the term "play in team" is a way different meaning in the west than it is in the east. The east play in teams just suck bc the east ain't deep. The west play in teams are just about 50 win teams like the lakers, warriors, suns, kings etc in that mix that all feel they have a shot to go all the way depending on matchups, health, etc. Can lakers have a solid shot at competing for a championship? Ofc. Mavericks showed that this year. Most people questioned if they'd even make playoffs after missing it completely last season and here they are in NBA finals. But it's gonna come down to what changes they make roster wise and what seed they finish prior to playoffs. They don't need another star. They need better fitting/ more reliable role players. When you play nuggets and only one dude on your bendh scores basically the entire series and 2-3 of your starters ( DLO, Rui, Reaves) basically stink as we saw it cost them. Had there starters of those 3 put up what they averaged in regular season and they got more production out of there bench they would have beaten Denver. They lead 70% of the minutes in Series yet bc those guys struggled they were never able to close it.

Until the Lakers are owned by a solid and well put together corporation and staffed by a well run front office with strong basketball acumen, this team will continue to flounder as a play in team with an early bounce out. They need someone with actual coaching experience and playoff knowledge. Someone the players can respect and adhere to. JJ doesn't have a job if Lebron's not there, so he's literally getting hired, to get fired = once Lebron's gone, so is JJ = that's probably why they're not sure about him because they're not sure if Lebron's staying = this will most likely get solved during or after the draft because if LAL doesn't pick Bronny, Lebron's probably leaving = that's why LAL haven't made a decision yet = they're not trying to waste more time/money with Lebron's nonsense = that's why they tried to hire Hurley, but Lebron didn't want him because he'd actually have to act like a player, not GM or coach = LAL trying to hire Hurley, singled that they're probably done coddling Lebron......but if they hire JJ, then that's not true

JJ Redick is a pretender and usurper. He trashed prior generations of basketball All Stars as a mechanism to get noticed. But Greatness recognizes Greatness. All you need do is look at the respect and admiration seen when the NBA assembled the 50 Greatest Basketball players of all time as proof JJ Redick is not relevant. Redick was not once selected for an All-Star team during his career. He was never a star in the NBA he was at best, just a role player..
