@limitedbom2206
@limitedbom2206 Жыл бұрын
@@bplayerr1 BLM didn't say hey ESPN fire her, but Rachel had a contract that included hosting the 2020 nba finals. Pretty good gig for her, she never did it before so that's a nice opportunity. Whelp, 2020 aka the bubble playoff which was filled with BLM being plastered all over, kneeling during the anthem, basically it was white bad black good. Combine all that with a newspaper writing an article about ESPN and the lack of opportunities given to people of color, it was a perfect storm of race guilt. So, ESPN reached out to Rachel and said hey we want you to step aside, give up your position of hosting the nba finals so we can give it to Maria Taylor. Rachel didn't want to because it was in her contract and obviously if you've never done it before, you'd like to host the finals right? ESPN came at her with the oh you're not a team player, blah blah blah whatever. Apparently Rachel left some kind of app on her computer after a meeting so someone at ESPN was listening to her phone conversation with someone and she talked about ESPN trying to strong arm her into giving up her hosting job, they used that to force her out saying Rachel was saying racially insensitive stuff. It's not at all surprising, in a time of the NBA shoving BLM down everyone's throat at all times, and a time where ESPN was under scrutiny of not being racially inclusive, they shifted the blame game onto someone so they can look like the good guys and give a good opportunity to a person of color. Rachel went on the "all the smoke" podcast if you want to hear it from her.

Nope. This term is like so much more too overused by this era of the instantaneous and the consummate. Superstars are only 7, by the way they managed the game and dominated it, by the way they leaded their team to success, i mean by that Rings..by accolades, titles and records. Some unforgettable sh.t. LeGM, Steph', Giannis, KD and Kawhi. The Prime dominant 5 as their resume witnessed it. 2 others guys with this "verbal title" are Jokíc and Doncíc. Even if they not win or manage to reach the Finals as Jayson did leading the Celtics, they are way more dominant as individual players, and that made them (Jokīc had already 2 in a row, and it's monsterous, and we all know Doncíc is the real deal for next 15 years); some MVP calibers candidates. Which obviously Tatum isn't yet. But he's improving and starting surely to reach this point, particularly on his leading abilities.

Jayson Tatum is the highest value small forward in the league right now... I'd take him over CURRENT aging stars like LeBron, Durant, Kawhi, etc, etc, etc.... he's still young and in his prime with room to grow. He's not injury prone like them and in todays league the best attribute in a superstar can be summed up as "the best ability is availability". The Celtics are extremely fortunate to have him.

The man made First Team All-NBA.So, are we saying "run the votes back, it was wrong?" Funny, I've heard ZERO outcry from other players on this (usually a sign if there's been some disturbance in the force). To expect a super star to be some all time great is ridiculous. Jason Tatum has shown enough that he’s an exceptional player and it’s crazy to except players to be top 10 in a league with 400 ppl

Tatum a superstar , is he still young of course but look at his numbers. If this team wins against golden state especially after beating two legends KD and Kyrie, the defending champions , war against the 1# seed Heat. He will be legend cemented period, that's legendary run if completed.

She's right. And she wasn't snarky or righteous about it. "Superstar" is not another level of play above great, superstar is another thing altogether. All superstars are great players, but not all 1st team all-NBA players are superstars. Some, most, are merely stars. Alas, Malika got pushed into defending her "rubric" on grounds of performance on the court. She should have rested on her opening definition. Basketball prowess is just the visible tip of the iceberg. Superstardom goes beyond sports, beyond popularity, even beyond winning. It's a galaxy-class pop culture phenomenon, a global merch brand, a spellbinding crazy mad love thing that to millions makes you an idol, a myth, a drug. Are parents naming babies after Embid, Tatum, Joker? I'd call that legacy, as much as rings, a marker of superstardom. Because fans don't just appreciate Curry as a hooper, they want to BE Stephen Curry in life. Be LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. Be Serena and Ronaldo and Federer, who will probably remain tennis's biggest superstar long after Djokovic surpasses his records -- because Djokovic, arguably more deserving, isn't Roger! And Tatum isn't Steph . . . yet. Based on X Factor, Ja Morant is probably closer.

She’s right. There was a point in time where everyone was convinced Lillard was a superstar for one very good season, even went as far as being labelled the best PG (although that was more to undermine Steph than anything) but this constant anointing of superstardom to every other player seems to age poorly.

I kinda agree though, like I don’t think Jayson Tatum is a superstar. I don’t think you can be considered a superstar after a few good years. I think you’ve had to of made a impact on the game significantly (not change it, just have a impact on the current nba), and be very popular amongst the crowds. Iunno, idk more about basketball than someone like Richard Jeff. But that’s just my opinion

I'm mostly there with you. The argument that he made all nba is a strong argument but not 100%. Players like Deandre Jordan, and Joakim Noah, and Marc Gasol have made all nba but by no means would I consider them Super stars. Star players yes, but the word "super" is where I draw a definitive line. Super is a Tier 1 star that's been doing it for awhile. Tatum has been averaging over 25 only the last 3 years. So if you want to consider the 3 I mentioned as super stars then yeah I guess Tatum is a super start but I feel there should be different levels of super star dom.

The best litmus for “superstar” is if your grandma, who doesn’t watch basketball, knows who the player is. I think Tatum is a king, but the casual fan or a citizen in another country has no idea who he is. But guess who they do know? Steph, Lebron, KD

Tatum is Duncan style, not Duncan level superstardom. He gets the stats without all the flash. He's not hyperathletic like giannis, he's not super fast like irving, he's not super élite shooting like Curry. He's a smart player that gets to his spots and makes the right fundamental play a majority of the time. I also think the fact that he didn't come out of the gates super fast like some of the other superstars has made him go under the radar a bit but he's starting to get that recognition.

Tatum is future HOF. So your point is blurred. However their is a tier below the levels she mentioned with Steph, Giannis , etc. Tatum would indeed be on the next tier with Kawhi, Harden, Embiid, Towns, Young and Ja. Tatum has had several head scratching performances in key situations that make you question his leadership.

Tatum isn't only a super star, imo, he's right next to Giannis as the best all around player in the NBA. It's not JUST about offense, guy's like Jokic, Luka etc..might be putting up triple doubles every other game, but their defense is trash. Tatum does it on both ends, he literally had votes for DPOY last season, plus he's a 30+ ppg player, who could average 10 rebounds in a season if he really wanted to, he's by far a super star.

The thing is, I agree with her because most superstars today aren’t true superstar talent the commissioner and the previous commissioner made the game easier for financial gain less defense less physicality ignore basic rules, like traveling and palming the ball so that players can score more and people who don’t like basketball will now be attracted to a streetball like atmosphere. There is a video that shows the amount of Traveling that is not called example LeBron is allowed to take five steps Ja Morant carries or palms the ball Every time he makes a move.

The man's one of the best in the NBA and has proved time and again, that he's a problem for any team. Then again, finding out about Malikas past, she probably just doesn't like him as a person, so she has to shit on his skill on the court.
