Love my new 7mm PRC build with this chassis. It’s so solid!

Interesting video. Don't suppose I'll ever own one, but it's always intriguing to see what is available.

This chassis is worth every dollar. The integrated arca rail is awsome.

Until you shoot a box of ammo through it and the hand guard comes loose because the holes in the carbon are becoming oblong from recoil.

@jakesip6765 have you tried contacting MDT about the issue. I find they have excellent customer service.
@jakesip6765Күн бұрын
@@CanPat777 I work in a gun shop and have had at least 4 customers with the exact same issue. When asked, MDT sends out a new handguard. The handguards they send don't appear to have any differences, so I'm not confident it won't just happen again.

I won a Weatherby Model 307 Alpine in .280 ackley on gun broker for about half the price it goes for. That chassis feels amazing and it’s very light

I'm currently building one off a tikka action (7prc) and the gunsmith highly recommend skim bedding because some of the other builds he's "recently" done with the HNT 26 chassis have had problems holding zero that were solved after skim bedding. but before this I haven't heard any problems with the chassis needing to be bedded for tikkas or any other inlet
@andybockexАй бұрын
Really good chassis. Have it on my Tiika 243.

Some people clearly don’t understand that quality costs money, and making it lightweight too costs more money. Show me a lightweight folding chassis for less money let alone one with hand laid CF, magnesium, adjustable LOP and cheek, and a hinge that locks up rock solid. The only other game in town is the XLR element magnesium which costs just as much by time you add a folder and stock and their buttstocks kinda suck. They also have a long lead time compared to MDT which is usually in stock with them or a vendor. Or a Christener MPR chassis which is heavier and a giant POS. The HNT26 is a phenomenal chassis and if you shop around you can get the folders for sub $1400 from dealers and sub $1K on their Black Friday sale.

Would you mind sharing the weight and velocity of the 20” proof 7prc you built with the ELR Chassis? Very interested in doing this. Thank you for your content Sir!
@BackcountryHuntingPodcastАй бұрын
Sure! Without the steel magazine and scope, it weighs 6 lbs, 13 oz. Depending on ammo, I lose 25 to 40 fps per inch of barrel. So about 100 to 150 fps slower than a 24" barrel.

Can you share a episode about how Canadian can hunt in states and cost please
@BackcountryHuntingPodcastАй бұрын
@ronald96739 I confess I'm not an expert on that topic... As I understand it Canadians can purchase a hunting license in most states (they differ) as long as you're licensed to hunt in Canada. You'll pay non-resident permit prices, of course.

I would have to disagree that short barrels are a poor decision. A short nimble fast handling rifle that is easy to pack and doesn’t get hung up either in bush or in a hunting blind is worth more to me than 100fps. Trust me. No animal will run away because the bullet impacted 100fps slower than buddy’s rifle that is 4-6 inches longer.

It's a great stock, but having to use a loud/heavy metal mag with no alternatives for my action/caliber was enough of a reason to sell it for me, especially when it's -20.

They have polymer mags for it lol

I've ordered a composite magazine (MDT makes them for 7 PRC now but they're backordered). Should be much quieter and a couple ounces lighter.

HNT26 cannot be the best because it's not available in left hand - at least not the last time I checked for long action 700 clone or Tikka. Interesting you mention 7PRC and 280AI. I have four of the PRCs and 3 of the AIs ready to go to the range

My boy William feels your pain... he shoots south-paw too. You likely know this, but the XLR Element 4.0 is a terrific lightweight chassis and is ambidextrous. It's the only other chassis that I've personally found that competes with the HNT26. It's just got more metal and so is colder to the touch and noisier.
