Its also worth to mention Atem's ability to set up shadow games, which means Meruem's typical strategy of trial and error in order to surpass his opponent would be impossible as with just a single game, Atem can inflict a punishment that would curse or the very least take Meurem out of commission from continuing further games. Along with added benefit of preventing Meurem or his guards from pulling a fast one during the game as cheating would also lead to them getting punished (though honestly I don't think in-character, Meurem would resort to such tactics).

I agree with this if we’re going with character, there’s no way Yami yugi would allow multiple games the moment he wins the first time he’s ending it maybe doing something like what Yami Marik in the final fight and destroy his soul

Initially I was going to say Meruem would use an insect deck but giving it more thought a Worm archetype deck is a better fit considering the lore and monster share similarities to the chimera ants.

I wonder if the Pharaoh's magic could work on Meruem, putting your life on the line does greatly boost nen abilities so if you transfer them over, Atem risking his life could make him give Meruem a pretty strong punishment but it's usually karmic based on the person, perhaps he loses his all abilities and becomes a peasant? Might be too powerful of a penalty XD

I could genuinely see them becoming great friends and just playing duel Monsters continuously getting better and better and both of their strategies evolving the more they play together. Meruem would actually have a world of masters to compete against here!

Just recently finished hunter hunter. Kinda sad it ended at the convo on the world tree. IMO Yugi would only win by abusing his Destiny Draw ability. If Yugi was banned from doing that he'd need a lotta luck.

Fun fact in gx we pretty much get confirmation that seto kaiba and Yugi are the only duets in the world to have chaos emperor dragon in Black luster soldier envoy of the beginning as both of them were said to be so rare they were straight up banned XD like yah out of all the ban cards thoese where the ones that was like no😮
