Interestingly, during the early days of the bronze age someone tried making an obsidian sword to keep up with the times (bronze allowed for much longer knives/early swords) in Denmark. funnily enough there really isn't anything particularly wrong with the design of guts's sword which is downright bizarre for a weapon in a manga, there's some impracticalities but they make a lot more sense in light of it's intended use...though why you'd use a sword at all for that is beyond me. the problem with it is exactly the problem stated in the manga: it's way the frack to damned heavy to actually use. and not just in a "you're not strong enough" problem, the dimensions vary a bit from image to image (mostly in thickness) but we're talking at _least_ ~200 pounds of material, usually more like 300+ meanwhile the heaviest sword ever reportedly actually used in combat was ~14 pounds, and that one was both intended to be purely decorative and claims of it's use can't be supported. funnily enough guts appears to start getting faster and more agile with all that extra weight from the armor added on later, he knows full well that sword is holding him WAY back but it's the only weapon around that can hold up to doing the job he needs it to do (remember that this guy is moving to fast for normal mercenaries to track him visually shortly before he switches to using his iconic weapon).

Nice experiment but what I think is you need to practice edge alignment first with a proper blade. So your swings would be more consistent.

When you cut the pineapple in half, and it just stayed in one play lol It's like the old waiter pulling the table cloth out from under the setting gag

"If you hit someone in the head with a rock enough times will they die?" Like it's really obvious the wood and stone swords in minecraft don't cut anything, they just bludgeon.

One issue I did notice right away is your hesitancy to follow through with your slashes with the swords, which will negatively affect the results as the sword isn't being tested to it's full capabilities.

Steve and Alex must be super strong to hold anything in the game with one hand and swing it like it’s air.

Just remember, Steve can wield it in one hand and still sprint and run perfectly

If this dude went time travel from stone age, and bring his stone swords that dude would be the king

A minecraft sword would make a terrible sword but an amazing blunt weapon

@Louis Weisz this is just a tease. Did you know that each cube in minecraft is a 1 cubic meter long or about 3 cubic feet. comparing the normal minecraft sword to it, it's about 2 thirds of the block which is about 2 feet and or about 0.6 meters long, so about the normal length of a sword 60 centimeters.

Realistically, a stone sword would be something like the Aztec macuahuitl; a flat, relatively narrow wooden paddle with a slot carved into the edge, filled with pitch that holds a bunch of small knapped stone blades.

I think on some of the horizontal ballistic gel tests the swords were hitting the middle nail, thus stopping them from going further since they're being stopped. Not 100% sure, but looking at some of the footage it sure looks like it.
