I think the top 5-10 teams in DIII would be top 50% in DI. Salisbury would probably consistently be around the top 20 D1. There's just more parity in lacrosse than there is in other sports like football. So may ex-D3 players with residual eligibility from COVID now playing graduate seasons at elite D1 schools. Two of UVA's starters are former-NESCAC players.

Look what happened to Hobart, when they jumped to D1... better to be a big fish in a pond, than small fish in a big lake...

I mean they beat duke in a scrimmage a few years back

Hobart won 10 D-III national championships. They’ve been irrelevant ever since they moved to D-I.

There are so many aweful d1 programs. Salisbury would prob be ranked top 20 year one

Hobart was a perirenal powerhouse at D3 for years - they went D1 and got smoked for several years. Salisbury is good, but UMD, Michigan, UNC, Denver, Duke would all smoke 'em.

Those are also all top 10 teams @@33Ozweldian

I played D1. One of my roommates was s 2nd string D middie at my school. Transferred to SU as a junior, first team all american. SU is a great program, but they are delusional. They still go on and on about supposedly beating duke once in a scrimmage, but no one can say when it actually happened. They barely beat a terrible drexel team in a scrimmage during covid, but SU had 4 games already and Drexel just started practice that week. And again, that was a bad drexel team that never approached top 30 all year.
