Devastation easy to imagine in NE US, but as a gardener knowing how fast weeds grow and multiply I can imagine in a tropical/humid climate some trees (palms) and many other flora would grow back fast. Many of us were conditioned that sauropods only reached high to eat; no one can prove this feeding habit was exclusive. They could have been opportunists and ate lower growing flora as well. That said, even deer and rabbits can decimate introduced flora such as crops.

I feel the S-pods, would need to migrate in order to prevent clear cutting, also the growth rates of trees. But also, I feel that the S pods, would also have much smaller animals in tow that would clear cut low growth and unfinished trees. Also, it seems to me that there were a lot of long neck ones that evolved to smaller neck ones later which might be a sign of less vegetation. Although another thing is waste, these animals probably left a lot of manure behind, and if they had similar digestive tracks as animals today, they may have produced a huge amount of waste gas. Elk have clear cut forests when they were left with no predators, and deer in my state have decimated whole parks and farms. Also other resources used I feel that they drank a lot of water, and possible chased off med to small predators just out of size. I think there should be a study to see if the necks and size changed over time to smaller more compact versions to see if they were shrinking in size due to resource management issues. Nesting sites should be desolate as I imagine the hatching of hundreds of baby sauropods with fast growth rates would destroy fields and low growth plants.
