Pretty much this, if you compare it to the F2004 in terms of performance it wouldn't make sense. Most of the teams dropped the ball this year compared to the Mercs and the team in terms of strategy is perfect. The F2004 was a fucking rocket, the car just flew without any tricks. As Rob Smedley put it, the absolute perfect race car, devastatingly good with Michael behind the wheel.

Bruh the absolute madlads at Mercedes AMG HPP outdid themselves. In 2019 we could see that the SF90 had a better engine and that must have felt like a gut punch to the Mercs but they got back to the drawing board, did some witchcraft and beat that illegal engine fair and square with a comfortable margin. You may hate their dominance but you have to admit, they are the best of the grid, not only on the basis of their car but their mentality. The W12 would literally destroy most of the grid, unless the Honda guys find that little bit more and Red Bull doesn't have many reliability issues. This is one of the most if not the most dominant car, the only real contender for me would me the W07, that year they cooked up something so noice, it's not explainable in words

honda wasn’t the problem of this year’s red bull. The whole concept was flawed, it just doesn’t work. The only thing that’s keeping rb in second place is ferrari’s drop to the bottom. Other teams simply doesn’t have a budget to compete with rb. Summing up, there was nothing wrong with engine.

Just to say, FIA changed technical rules for aero because they knew this year every car was gonna become faster and they were affraid that pirelli's cannot handle that charge anymore. The tyres in the W11 were at their limits every race, that's why Mercedes biggest problem were tyre management, and rumors says that the W11 was never at its 100% in 2020 for that reason. Just imagine.

of course its not the best ever objectively seen. However at that time it was by a long long margin the most extreme approach to an f1 car. Just look at the other cars from that season and then the mclaren. the mclaren was constructed so near the edge, that they were able to add huge amounts of ballast to reach the 605kg. with everyone else just adding some minor weights if at all. it was dang quick. this however meant, that the reliability was poor.

It’s quick and reliable as hell, but it could not keep up when behind other cars in Monza, and it suffered in the wet at Turkey. Apart from some reliability issues, I would say the W07 was a superior car. If COVID had happened in 2016, I think they would have won every race. That car was beautiful in all situations, whereas the W11 has suffered sometimes in the wet and when following other cars. The W07 lost 2 races in a 21 race season. The W11 has lost more than that already. However that car had Nico driving, who was way better than Bottas, so maybe that’s why it was more successful rather than performance

Tbf W11 in the wet was only a trouble because it's so good at keeping its tyres cool, so it took about 7 laps to heat it's tyres and then would come alive. Which is why Bottas struggled and Lewis succeeded, because everytime Bottas would build the temps, he'd lose them immediately because of his bust steering column putting him into a spin

I think the best sign of the W11's just ridiculous levels of speed is that the Mercs entire aero package, namely cooling, is predicated on the fact that they would be gapping everyone by such a large margin. I agree, that its hard to say. It is a great car hands down. Proof of this is actually found with the aforementioned "Pink Mercedes" and its sudden improvement over its competition. SO for sure Mercedes discovered a recipe that worked best in this hybrid era. But we also can site that other cars on the grid are much faster than they were years ago. FAR better. But the greatness of a car can only truly be seen to the extent of its driver. If you sit your grandmother in an F1 car, youd never see its full potential. And even with the greatest drivers, they may not exploit the fullness of their car. so again its hard to say. But surely as a dominant car and team, (important to note the team) at least in this era, Mercedes has been the best by a wide margin. But!! we dont know, if the opposition, is simply not as good as some of them use to be with personel that are no long part of their crew. a teams greatness is in the hands of its best drivers and smartest engineers. Although many consider the W11 the most dominant Mercedes car or even the W07, I sometimes disagree: W05 could make a gap of 23 secs in just only 10 laps as we saw in Bahrein when the engine was turned to the max, and Rosberg 3 secs a lap quicker than Ricciardo in Spa when trying to catch him in the closing stages, and in Sochi he recovered from last to 2nd place 15 laps before the end. W06, W07 and W11 never were that far the competition, unless they were turning their engines in these years down too while being in the front

I wouldn't say the W11 is the "greatest" it's probably the most successful but I think to be "the greatest" it needs to be massively revolutionary and usher in an era of people trying to copy and catch up a new innovation. Rewatching this video in 2022makes you think if the w13 is lack lustre like the w10 does that mean the w14 will end up being as dominant as the w11

still think its the McLaren mp4/4, it won all but the italian gp, except for 1 race where it didnt win, it was easily faster everywhere, and as we've seen the mercedes this year still has its problems, such as graining at high temps and overheating issues in dirty air

Just watched today and thinking about it the regulations what they are now compared to 30-40 years ago I would say the W11 is the best car. Every car has little weakness in it, however the W11 has very little and fact the car didn’t win 3 races last season and one of them due to merc fucking up shows that. Love them or hate them merc made something special and they stopped developing the car part way through and really no team caught them just shows how good that car is.
