Great video Rob, I’ve got the garberg black carbon steel and it’s a great blade, take this as a compliment i think your like a young John Wilson of the bushcraft world. It’s nice to see your subscribers have increased to, im surprised it’s taken this long for people to jump on as you are so addictive to watch.

Thanks for saying that mate. It's been hard to get the time to go out and get some filming done. But I'm glad this film found it's target audience. Hope for some good weather in the new year and maybe time for a spot of fishing too.

Great to come across you Rob. I am also a West Sussex man living almost on the Serpents Trail. Will enjoy following your vids. Also a great Garberg fan - have been using mine for years and found it pretty bomb proof. Wishing you best of luck with your youtube journey. Esmond

the Robust is not full tang,but yeah,it can defo do most things,the Garberg though,is a different beast all together...fantastic...good vid!
@TheSussexOutdoorsman2 ай бұрын
I was mislead on thinking the Robust was full tang, but it's sure strong enough to do some buttoning. I reallyeally like the feel of the Garberg, so it's a great upgrade.

I picked up 4 robust knives for £6 each whilst I was staying in Poland, great knives, it's not full tang but is pretty strong. I love my Garberg it's probably my most used knife but if you're on a budget or just don't like spending too much for a knife the robust certainty is the way to go. If you don't use your knife for splitting rounds of wood like what you were splitting the kansbal is a great camp knife.
@TheSussexOutdoorsman2 ай бұрын
Wow that's a deal. The Robust is one of my favorite knives, but the Garberg is a big upgrade.
@TheDavewatts2 ай бұрын
@@TheSussexOutdoorsman definitely 😁👍🏻 I didn't get one straight away to be honest because I wasn't convinced probably because of the price, I picked up a stainless steel one for £37 plus delivery in a sale a couple of years ago, but after using it I wouldn't have been disappointed if I'd paid full price, especially now they have come down in price a lot.
@clivedunning43172 ай бұрын
I've always found the Garberg to be too heavy and clumpy. My knife of choice at the moment is the Kansbol, can't see past it and a lot,lot lighter than the Garberg. I tandem it with a SAK. Happy Trails !
@TheSussexOutdoorsman2 ай бұрын
@@clivedunning4317 i did like the look of the kansbol, i opted for the garberg just for the heavy-duty aspect. Thanks for watching.

They are tremendous knives. Have you managed to get out on the Rother much before this awful weather?
@TheSussexOutdoorsman2 ай бұрын
@@jbradshaw4236 Mora sure do make some of the best knives on the market. As for the fishing, i kind of took a back seat over the last few months. Had a good go back in the summer with some nice results. Hope to get the rods out again soon.

Mora Garburg is one of the best survival knives out their and for its price range, you made a good 👍 choice.
@2SnakesАй бұрын
Lovely video. Not a fan of the Garberg though. The lack of a finger guard is a dealbreaker for me. I am an experienced knife user but I prefer my knives to have some sort of guard -- especially a more heavy duty knife. A slip can happen so easily out in the wild and its always better to be safe than sorry.
@TheSussexOutdoorsmanАй бұрын
I know the feeling with the guard, but at least it's quite grippy. I have a Helle with a round wooden handle and it just feels one wrong move and your going to have a accident.
@2SnakesАй бұрын
@@TheSussexOutdoorsman Precisely. And it doesn't have to be a giant guard either, even the one on the Mora Clipper (my favorite Mora) is sufficient.

Don't chizzle out the middle for your Swedish log face all 4 quarters bark inwards and it does the same without the hassle
@TheSussexOutdoorsman2 ай бұрын
@@leemichel8199 that's an interesting way to make it. Only thing would be you don't have that wood base and then you need to collect wood to burn instead of using the bits you cut out. I give try some time. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment.

You’re very English, Mate!😂 I have the same knife in black. Very sturdy blade! I think it is great for the tough chores, but for food prep and fine carving , it is way too thick for my taste. I usually carry the Opinel for those tasks anyway! A good compromise in Mora is the Kansbol. Same design but a thinner front portion of the blade. I had to buy one of those as well. It can become a bit of an addiction!😂Thanks for sharing your experience with this knife.😊
@TheSussexOutdoorsmanАй бұрын
I agree it would be a bit big for finer carving and other small tasks. But i will try making a pot hanger or something to give it a go. Thanks for watching, and taking time to comment.
