SUGGESTION - HOLDIN ON TO YESTERDAY. While I prefer their earlier Alan Parsons progressive tunes, they had several hits with the soft rock sound. I saw them in 2018, with Firefall opening, and they were great ... David Pack, the lead singer, had passed.

@@denismansfield8876 I had Abbey Road, McCartney & Wings Red Rose Speedway, DSOTM, Year Of The Cat, Time Passages and Ambrosia. I'd have to go back and look through for the Rundgren ones, forgot about Walsh on Souvenir's. David Pack has one of the most recognizable voices. Ambrosia had many hits: Holdin' On To Yesterday, How much I Feel, You're The Only Woman.... For a couple of lesser known songs with David Pack try Ground Zero where David Pack joins Kerry Livgren(formerly from Kansas). Pack's voice soars to incredible heights. Then from his solo album try When Your Love Was Almost Mine. I'm sure you will enjoy both songs.

This song was Ambrosia's second Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song peaked at the #3 spot in the summer of 1981. No doubt that this song is a definitely banger indeed!!! By the way, some r&b stations in.the 1980s played artists like Ambrosia, Hall and Oates and Michael McDonald. This type of music is called blue-eyed soul.

Ambrosia is pronounced with a zha sound on the end. It is hard to imagine just how big they were in the 70s and 80s. They were on literally every rock station. I remember reading a review on the band back in the 1980s (I think!) and their producer was saying that to expand the band's music horizons and cognizance he took them to a classical music concert, hoping they would find inspiration to add to their already formidable list of hits. Some of Ambrosia's music is timeless no doubt about it! 😉💖🎸

One of my top ten all time favorite blue-eyed soul songs. These guys doing "How Much I Feel" is also a great cut. However, the spiritual originator of this kind of music, Smokey Robinson doing "Ooh Baby Baby", especially the live, black and white version from around 1966 is really the truly great cut. You get to see the appeal of the very young Smokey and you get to see his great stage presence while hearing the sweetest voice in R&B/R&R history.

Ambrosia only released 5 albums before they broke up, but they were all excellent. The first 2 albums were very much progressive rock. The next 2 were blue-eyed soul/rock/pop. The final album was back to a more progressive rock sound. I like all of their offerings, but I especially love the progressive albums: "Ambrosia", "Somewhere I've Never Travelled", and "Road Island". Alan Parsons engineered their first album. Then Ambrosia played on Alan Parson Project's first album: "Tales of Mystery and Imagination, Edgar Allen Poe". Ambrosia's main lead singer, David Pack, left the band to start a solo career and he also worked as a producer. The band dissolved for a good long while, but then got back together (sans David Pack) many years later. Joe Puerta, lead guitar, also shared the lead vocal role with David. He went on to work with Bruce Hornsby and the Range as lead guitarist. David Pack has appeared on numerous Alan Parsons Project albums. He also released a couple of solo albums that are very good. He has the voice of an angel and still sounds great. I was lucky enough to see Ambrosia at a tiny venue in Myrtle Beach, SC around 1980 or so and they sounded amazing. An interesting tidbit I read about Ambrosia, when the first album was released and did very well, they had to wait for David Pack to finish school before they could go on tour.

If you're looking for a good love song, I'd recommend "When I'm With You" by Sheriff! They were kind of a one hit wonder in the early 80's but it's one of my all time favorites!!!

A great tune, for sure; but for me "Holdin' On To Yesterday" takes their already amazing musicianship to another level.

The bands during the 70's are bunch of hopeless romantics. The slow rock genre started in this era. Songs from Bread, Ambrosia, Player, Bee Gees, etc. dominated the radio during that time.
