Sarah and Jesse sold everything they owned. Instead of making room for more ‘stuff’, they decided to collect experiences instead. Their whole lives are now strapped onto 2 bikes. They feel free, and on a ride that could quite literally take them anywhere.

Once my kids have left(youngest is 14) , who knows what's next..Oh me and my girlfriend did the team entry in IndiPac for last two years,so would be nice to explore and enjoy our riding more and not so much in a hurry. I lived out of my truck . Working 3weeks off 6 days . I rented hotel rooms for a few days then return to work . I had a storage unit agree to collect mail for me and I stored truck stuff when I hotels and vice versa. You can rent hotels $200 a week ? Earning who cares about what you earn when you're expenses are 3 bills. Storage, hotel ,car insurance. I had excellent opportunity to save money and I did but I allow a relative on my account and she developed a gambling habit on my dime. When a business says they will treat me like family I run away .

I think it is amazing what they do but always wonder how sustainable it is. What if they get children, do they save money for retirement, what if one will break their hip with a fall and can’t bicycle for a few months, what if they are 90y old and physically cannot move so well anymore? Eventually they still need to return to a home instead of a tent. I am curious about these long term problems how they can survive that.

I'm doing that now, and I have a better shower in any spot I want. Wake up to and go to bed in any sun rise n set. Take it to a new place, city, town. And with a trailer you don't have to ride to far to have a work out from it. But I've found that moving around in n a city working at different places is really tuff when you have all your stuff. But with a trailer you can lock it right on the work site. And it be there when off. Or not have to go back to an area you don't want to be in but for two things. Food, and a shower. And a lot more then bags, battery and things like water and food when out of towns. So hope it's easy for you two, but campers are way easier for me anyways.

I've had this burning desire to do this, at least for a while. I've never been married or children. I'm 55 years old now and have spent the last 3 years buying all the top gear to tour on my recumbent trike. There's only two things that is really preventing me from doing this. A income, once I have no more job that I currently have. And...this might sound silly or stupid to others, but...I have a 3 year old kitty cat that I have had since she was 8 weeks old. I'm all she knows, and she is like my daughter. I love her so much. I truly could not give her away. Neither of us would adjust very well. But...If I knew that I SOMEHOW could have constant income for..food, maintenance for my recumbent trike, and basic needs. I would love to try this for a while.

@@paokarapaok1777, I've seen people bring their dogs with them on their bicycle adventures, but a cat is soooooooo very different than a dog, and more difficult. First thing is... Camping gear is rain proof and very light and fragile in a sense. Cat claws puncture everything!...tent nylon, sleeping air mattress...get the point? Plus she has always been a inside kitty. She freaks out when I take her outside for brief moments. Riding her on my recumbent trike for hours would be a disaster. I appreciate your input, but I've already thought that process out for 2 minutes 😅. No way it would work.

@@Firefly-trike I used to be one of those people. I had a strong dislike for cats until this one little black stray cat that lives at my apartment complex started coming around. Even though she’s a stray she just wants love. Me and some of the other residents started feeding her and she would let us pet her. When I was looking to adopt a pet I really wanted a puppy but that little black stray made me consider a cat. So it turned out to be an ad campaign? Apart from that, if it's something you're heart desires to do then follow your heart. I'm here because I'm watching a lot of bike related videos today because I enjoy cycling whenever I can to do every day things instead of taking the car whenever practical. Yes, I said whenever practical. I have a car and a house and my heart is more sedentary as far as any desire to abandon my life and live from my bike. Your bikes didn't look like they had enough storage room on them to carry a tent and other gear! IMHO, four-wheel bikes are a lot more stable but a LOT more expensive but they would provide enough storage for at least three days at a time! Isn't it funny how adding a wheel or two increases the price expediently? Not a rip off, really!

Great inspiring story but looking at it realistically - for how long they will afford this life without an income ? Do they they take some part time jobs along the way or they are sponsored ? And what about the future when they will get old to the point of not being able to ride ? How they will take care of themselves. None of these brave wanderers speak about these issues and these are my concerns. This is what I am afraid of and what backs me off of making such decision. These two did not relate to it. I am really happy for them, for their happy life but I wonder they thought this through.

Marek Juraszek thanks for your comment. There are many factors involved in this trip and we have spent a good year planning before making this change. Of course we need money to make it work. We currently spend two days a week generating income, we have ran the numbers on what we need to get by too. It’s amazing what little you need when you have NO bills and no need to collect large amounts of stuff. It’s about thinking outside the square of traditional income too. I’ve never had a professional role in my life, but I’ve always gotten by. It’s all just money for bike adventures. As for the future, I hope we are still riding when we are older. We are only 40, pretty sure we have a long time before we need to worry about not getting work. And yes we have some support from sponsors too, but that is a result of the work we have done racing and riding to date. Nothings free. I hope you can look past these questions yourself and take a big trip. Anyone can do this! Good luck with your adventures Marek 👍🏻

@@TENTISTHENEWRENT I hugely admire both your achievements and I would love to be able to do what you do but in my life of collecting "stuff" I collected a couple of kids. Which in turn exponentially expands the amount of stuff that is collected and has grounded me with responsibility. How good is bikepacking though!? Whatever your stuff collecting status is, it is always an exercise in minimalism, comfort thresholds and the experience of adventure. May catch you on a RTTR one day.

N W yeah in the outtakes I made a funny comment that some people ‘collect kids!’ For me that’s something I had to make a big decision on too. If I had two lives I would do both, a family in one, bikepacking longterm in the other. Not so easy to just depart when you have little ones, but plenty of family style trips you can do! Or later on when they are older and dependant. I had to make a big decision to also rehome my dog, that was one of the toughest things I’ve ever done, it broke my heart. Yes to RTTR though 👍🏻

Well I pray you will stick around, I will be posting these three verses many many more times... I can't speak to strangers, but if that same stranger has a car you wanted to buy you would not have any problems taking to them. If we are Saved, we are bond slaves to Christ, we are not our own...we where bought with a price... Jesus is my Lord and Master... Jesus told his disciples in Luke 14:33 that if you want to be a Disciple of Christ you had to forsake all....it says Whosoever KJV are you a Whosoever? Mark 16:15 Says to go into all the World and Preach the Gospel of Salvation to everyone...we know Luke 14:33 KJV is a real verse because you can't go into the World carrying your stuff ...God doesn't want just your 10 percent he wants all of us...but to many people have a problem giving God their 10 percent...if you won't give God your tithes how are you going to give God what he really wants and that is everything? God Spoke the World into existence. Jesus is the spoken word of God...and if you are saved you have to speak the Gospel of Salvation to everyone...Romans 10:14-17 KJV Romans 10:14-17 King James Version (KJV) 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. ("17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.") Yes these three verses are some of the most important verses in the Bible...But I would add one more Luke 14:23 KJV in this verses it tells us to compel them to come in... (Compel them to come in).-It would have seemed all but incredible, had it not been too painfully and conspicuously true, that men could have seen in these words a sanction to the employment of force and pains and penalties as means of converting men to the faith of Christ. To us it seems almost a truism to say that such means may produce proselytes and hypocrites, but cannot possibly produce converts. There is, of course, something that answers to this “compulsion” in the work of Christian preachers, but the weapons of their warfare are not carnal (2Corinthians 10:4), and the constraint which they bring to bear on men is that of “the love of Christ” (2Corinthians 5:14) The only instances of the other kind of compulsion in the Apostolic age are when Saul “compelled” men and women to blaspheme (Acts 26:11), or the Judaisers “compelled” Gentile converts to be circumcised (Galatians 2:14; Galatians 6:12). Yes some people might not like me posting these three verses so often, but I do so because the souls of mankind are worth us hearing them....the believers, need to be more then Confessing Christian's, we need to be sold out Disciples of Christ that will forsake all, so they can go into all the World and do what? Preach the Gospel of Salvation to everyone... because if we will people will hear the Gospel, and by faith many of them will be THIS IS THE COST... LUKE14:33 They "forsake all" and live as itinerate followers of Christ, much as the original disciples did in the 1st century. "Our main message is we're trying to live as Christ and the early disciples did. We require what the Messiah required - it has to do with forsaking worldly possessions and living for God every day." 9 They accept the Jesus' instructions to give away most of their possessions and to live a life of simplicity, as recorded in a number of gospel passages, including: . Matthew 19:21-24: "Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." . Matthew 19:27-29: "Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life." . Luke 14:33: "So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple." . Luke 18:22-25: 22 When Jesus heard that, he said, “Then there’s only one thing left to do: Sell everything you own and give it away to the poor. You will have riches in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 23 This was the last thing the official expected to hear. He was very rich and became terribly sad. He was holding on tight to a lot of things and not about to let them go. 24-25 Seeing his reaction, Jesus said, “Do you have any idea how difficult it is for people who have it all to enter God’s kingdom? I’d say it’s easier to thread a camel through a needle’s eye than get a rich person into God’s kingdom.” Jesus is Lord ישוע הוא אלוהים friarrodney_burnap@yahoo.com

All good while you're young but getting old isn't for pussies. Collecting "stuff" is for losers, I agree, but I think that having a house is important as you age. Many people can't ride a bike after a certain age for health reasons...life can be cruel. Buy a cheap unit in a country town somewhere and rent it out while you travel everywhere and the renters pay it off for you. Then when you can't travel you have something for the next phase of your life. People work to build security for when they physically can't work any more. Or you can make good money selling dreams on KZbin while having a blast.😄
