I lived the early part of my life in Watford, telling potential land lords they can get a 5.5% return is telling them they can rip off the workers of Watford. Those people are trying to save for a deposit to own a house, that will not happen if outsiders are snapping up everything for rental.

I really hope the government cracks down hard on buy-to-let investors. It's time the entire practice ends as they are the single biggest reason for the lack of affordable housing to buy and thus the sharp increase in rent. There should be a cap of 1 let property per person. Can't people just have a place of their own? Why is everything about a few people making more money?
