Thanks for this video. A lot of the areas you mentioned are in general very similar prices to the prices in Greater London. Hitchen and Gerard’s cross are most expensive to live in than a lot of Greater London too. Travel costs also come in to play. Getting to London (ie kings cross / Paddington) from these areas costs a lot of money. Even just for the day.

100% spot on , areas near reading can cost more than elephant & castle or Peckham . Just a 15 minute bike ride to Westminster. And yes £6500 a year for a travel pass , more for some .

I currently live in Cambridge and commute to Central London for uni. It's very nice but the commute is really expensive, I pay only a little less for transport costs compared to what I used to pay for student accommodation (and live with my parents so I have no extra rent costs). However, a lot of people from the Cambridge area commute to London. In the future I plan to live in Royston (Hertfordshire), it's a pretty and historic town and in the middle of the train route between Cambridge and London, so there are good transport links to both.

So True...You can never win if you are working in London..No matter where you live...you are struggling with Money.. if you are working in Central London and thinking of living in the outskirts even 30 min commute the travel seasonal tickets are £5k and over..so in reality what you might think you are saving on rent is actually going out as Commute. Yes it is individual choice of where you feel happy and your priorities...For some schools/Social life. But as an individual nuclear families we will suffer because we don't have families...

This video is true. We are living in London Zone 2 area for the past 3 years at the time of this comment and moving to St Albans in few days. 1 bed flat in good areas low crime London Zone 2 -3 will cost over 2k+Council tax+car parking (if new build flat)+tube. Whereas commuter towns will cost much lesser including train fare with the rail card. Very few people in the UK go to work all 5 days. London rent is crazy in summer and increases by 2 folds every year due to huge demand for housing. For the same rent in commuter towns. We can live like a affluent with access to everything. Much better if one can drive. There is no point in comparing some Zone 4-6 areas of London with these towns. Outer zones has it's own limitations and which is common in all developed cities. Trains are much faster than tubes. London to St Albans fast train journey 18 mins for £ 6.5 one way. I'm sure tube will cost more than this, when we travel from Zone 5 to 1 and time consuming.

Come to Stevenage. We have an Iceland, may bettering shops and nail salons. The crime rate is as low as 950 per 1000 residents. The wildlife is incredible, we have 15 different species of rat.

I am reaching out to seek your expert advice on the best place to live in London for my Indian family. I have been following your videos and find them immensely helpful, but I am in search of very specific details tailored to our needs. We are looking for a location that offers the perfect balance of convenience, amenities, and community for our family. Specifically, we are interested in finding a 2-bedroom flat in a high-rise building, ideally with modern facilities and a safe environment. Moreover, as education is a top priority for us, we are also seeking recommendations for good high schools in the vicinity. It is crucial for us to ensure that our children have access to quality education within a reasonable distance from our residence. Could you please provide insights into the best neighborhoods or areas in London that meet these criteria? Any additional information or tips you can offer to help us make an informed decision would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance. We eagerly await your response.

Hi Bruno, depends on where you're planning on working. We have two dogs and live in Maidenhead. One of the reasons was because we wanted more space for the dogs and my son. You will face challenges though because a lot of homeowners don't want to rent to folks with pets.

@AbsolutelyAshika Жыл бұрын
Hi Sam, I happened to stumble upon some mom blogs which maintained that Slough was not the safest when you had young children so I decided to steer away. I can’t be sure how true that was but just to be on the safer side, I decided to give slough a miss.

Now back in France, I leaved few year in Hitchin prior after few other places in the UK. Lovely town. Really miss it. Though a cinema would have been nice. If I go back to UK, I was thinking St Albans or Maidenhead/Reading. As my current company is in High Wycombe and I might need to go in the office at least twice a week compared to now fully homebased. Guilford is lovely but not practical to reach Standstead Airport. St albans would be the "secure" choice as I know already Hertford. Having lived in north London and Hitchin. It would near what I was used too. Maidenhead would be a new adventure for a new start????? And probably easier to reach work when needed??? Well I will see what the future holds for me. Maybe I will stay in France maybe not!

You cant make it from Maidenhead to London Paddington in 23 mins. Its 30 mins on the GWR Didcot Parkway Service (every 30 mins) but cancelled at times & 37 mins on the Crossrail services. The GWR High speed services DONT STOP at Maidenhead & run non stop between Reading & London Paddington & they take 25 mins & always have done through out the years.

There's a train from Maidenhead tomorrow morning at 9:05. It will reach at 9:25. That's 20 mins. 3 whole mins less. There's also one at 8:31 which takes 19 mins.

@@AbsolutelyAshika Those are the Peak Class 1 that run between 0632-0905 & don't run throughout the day or weekends. Granted its 25 mins on the Class 2's with 1st stop Slough. Strangely enough when I checked this morning then all the Didcot Parkway's that you refer too were all cancelled this morning for some reason. Granted Maidenhead is lovely but the Didcot trains get cancelled regularly at times.

You can get a 1 BHK in one of the London boroughs like Newham or Redbridge for around £1200 so there is no need to move out of London. Avoid Central London and West London and try and stay is East or North London for cheaper rent. There are metro trains from East to Central which takes just 20 mins
