I think the Humpty Dumpty might be a sweater keeper! When you draped your sweater over your shoulders, you used the clips to hold your sweater together. Very useful for little kids who loose sweaters.

The Humpty Dumpty clips with chain is for a sweater. You put your sweater on over your shoulders and instead of trying to do the top button to keep it from falling off of your shoulders, you clip it! My mom had one when she was in college.

My parents were antique dealers/managers for 30+ yrs. They have just shipped off numerous boxes to be sold during an upcoming auction. I think my mom said 1400 lots went with the auctioneer. They are 82 and 86 this year so they want to sell it to make life easier. Anyway, what I was wanting to say was the peacock cream and sugar set - I'm 99% sure that it is 2nd generation carnival. Still vintage, still collectible, still desirable. The silver piece two button and chain are to hold a man's jacket partial open over a waistcoat or vest.

He had an irretrievably cosmetic mishap, when I was "toilet training", and he fell in and had to be washed (pre washable toy days) She is adorable and made me happy to see her elephant collection.
