This corrosion is going to be a weekly occurrence, you’ve bought a vehicle that’s been working all its life in salt for the last 24yrs, it will be plague with electrical warnings and corrosion throughout the chassis and if it’s sat around the problem will be even worse. Good Luck !

A old inner tube and a selection of jubilee clips is always in my own vehicles emergency tool kits.

Always carry a packet of JB Weld and some wire wool in my tool kit. Also a roll of self amalgamating tape will stop many leaks but needs some stronger tape over the top.

Roadside bodges are the best ones! Years ago we fitted a new compressor to a Merc coach, on roadtest it fired out a core plug and pissed out all its coolant. There was 3 of us stood there scratching our heads, my mate then cuts a branch off a nearby tree, tapers the end and hammers it in the hole. Got us back to yard with no leaks.

Because that was a classic motorway with a shoulder, I think. Huge length to run up to speed before moving into the real lane.

For some reason I always assumed you had to lift the "driving" wheels (the front of the fiesta). I guess it makes zero difference if the cars not in gear?

If he recovered it without being able to get in and take off the handbrake then yea he would have too I guess. If he was reposing it without keys he would have to lift whatever end is the driving wheels but as he can take off the handbrake doesn't matter really

Greg you should get some epoxy putty or resin to keep handy... Epoxy putty wrapped around that hose would have set rockhard and solved the leak, ive used epoxy putty for a bodge on a water pipe and it done the trick.
