On the "Atomic Basie" Album - the greatest tenor solo I ever heard was Lockjaw on "Whirly Bird".

Now this is Jazz, big band style! Count Basie and his orchestra, were so underrated, often living in the shadow of Duke Ellington and his orchestra. When Count Basie, Quincy Jones, and Frank Sinatra hooked up that was really something!

It is not natural. It is proper technique, practiced for decades.

Harold Jones on drums! And he's still alive and well. It was so nice to see him (seriously) on American Idol, backing up Tony Bennett these days -- bit.ly\I8nBCp
@UriBorodin11 жыл бұрын
Drum solo by Harold Jones is much more shorter than one by Rufus Speedy Jones in this number, in Basie's live 1965. Although, nice and fruity!
