@@panosdks I got into some trouble at the grocery store because of this movie 😅😅. A trans fella bumped into me, and I instinctively growled, “Take heed what you do!” in an attempt to sound like the count voice and accent, squeezing his arm. While still growling, I added, “I will heal your wound,” and just kept growling. The guyish girl then wanted to press charges for assault.😅😅😂😂

I like this Count Orlok. Very professional and hospitable. Welcomes his guest with a meal and gets on with the real estate business without idle small talk.
@blueprintguy5550Күн бұрын
Well, not as hospitable as Gary Oldman’s dracula, which is a good thing because it showed how worse Count Orlok’s uneasiness and terrifying aura is than Gary Oldman’s dracula.
@blueprintguy5550Күн бұрын
Dracula did make Jonathan Harker uneasy at some point, but not during the beginning, heck jonathan was enjoying his time there at the beginning. Dracula had a friendly and more welcoming behavior towards jonathan, even shared his personal stories. While this guy, Count Orlok, was hostile towards Thomas from the moment he entered his castle. He sucked Thomas’s blood, sent him through nightmares, and tortured him, physically and mentally from the start. In my opinion, that’s how dracula should be.

I love that he's not an actual vampyre but he was taught by the devil himself and given immense power over death without having to be actually bit by another vampyre. The old mythology that Eggars took that from and explained by the old nuns was just that extra level of newness that I found genius. Just amazing throughout.

I shall rise from my own castle, Count Orlok, Creature of the night, A Monstrous, Undead King, with powers born of darkness and eternal blight, I shall deem to pursue you, my Love, for you were not born of mortal life, But forged in shadows, dark and deep, a prize to be claimed, a heart to be kept. I shall sup from the blood of your beloved, in the midnight hour's dark shade, And visit you in your dreams, my skull hands reaching out, a dark, spectral grim parade. The Rats and Shadows are my cursed duty, a legacy of blood and endless pain, As I, Vampyr Nosferatu, claim you, my love, and make you mine to remain. On the third night, I'll feed on you, my love, and yet your beauty will remain, A fatal, cruel allure, that beckons me, a moth to the flame's sweet, savage pain, And as we die, together, in the dawn's early, golden light, Our love will be the last thing that kills me, a final, fatal, sweet goodbye. ~HARDIIIEEE

Who knew the live action spinoff to that one SpongeBob character would be so dark? All jokes aside, this is a masterpiece of filmmaking. Eggars is the light of cinema in the dark shadow of untalented corporate slop that has tainted our screens for the past few years and he does Nosferatu and Orlok justice to a degree so satisfying, I didn't even realize I needed until I saw the film in theaters. Instead of young critic, cinema fanatics and filmmakers saying we need more like Eggars, we future filmmakers need be more like Eggars. Young filmmakers are the future of cinema and Eggars is a good example of how to do an intriguing and artueristic take on a classic tale.

It’s an adaptation that truly honors both the 1922 silent masterpiece and Bram Stoker’s book and that was Eggers’ full intention here. He didn’t want to do anything different or innovated apart from the source material. Just a retelling of a classic Vampire story. Visuals, cast, performances, they nailed it right out of the park. Is it scariest? By all means no. But it does immerse you into its dreadful story and creepy atmosphere. It’s definitely not for every horror fan, but if you want to appreciate the roots of the horror genre, look no further.
