It's an edit error, they do pickups at the end of each recording. I should know, I've played the game in the studio for real.

Connor_M27 Cheers, but I've been watching Countdown for quite a long time. I use a website called Apterous to practise, not sure if you've heard of it? It's where all of the series champions have practised, since about Series 60.
