It’s nice to see a bit of nostalgia with the “countdown clock” themes. The music appears to have remained relatively untouched since changing to its current version. There is a bit of a sound problem for the “celebrity countdown clock” theme but not to worry! Nice video to show historical themes.

+thatdudewiththesunglasses About the 1996 one - from Wikipedia: "Executive producer John Meade once commissioned Hawkshaw to revise the music for extra intensity; after hundreds of complaints from viewers, the old tune was reinstated.
@thatdudewiththesunglasses8 жыл бұрын
+Paianni That's interesting. I suppose a show has to take some chances to see what will work in people's eyes and what won't. I think the 1996 one doesn't fit in with the rest of the tune. It's weird when they play the jingle and then the end of the song starts to play!
@paianis8 жыл бұрын
+thatdudewiththesunglasses I notice that the 'shaker' at the end of the 1996 clock theme was also used in the remastered intro theme that came in at the same time. The difference is that that intro theme is still used today.

I've always wondered why they changed the font with the letters and numbers in Celebrity Countdown. Well, it's still the same font, which is Futura, but it's not in *bold*. Didn't seem much point in the change to me...plus the bold font was always better to see.
@thatdudewiththesunglasses8 жыл бұрын
I always thought it was a different font but now I know. I think they decided to change it in the intro sequence so it better suited the new title theme and then decided it would make more sense to have the same font through out the entire show.

thatdudewiththesunglasses Yeah, I think your right. That's the only reasonable explanation.

They said the short lived 1996 clock couldn’t make the contestants concentrate? What a lot of rubbish it’s no different to the actual clock going tick tick tick so how r u meant to concentrate with the normal one going as opposed to the 96 one? Makes no sense. Bring back the 96 clock.

Does it annoy anyone else slightly that the beat isn't synchronised with the seconds? It's a 16-bar piece of music so there are 64 beats in 30 seconds. Why not make it 15 bars, that way it would be precisely 2 beats per second plus it would nicely mess with people's heads finishing one bar before you would expect :)
