In the numbers round, another solution is: 50 - 1 = 49 8 + 3 = 11 49 x 11 = 539 539 + 3 = 542 I know it's very similar to the way they did it, but my thinking was different. Rather than get up to the nearest multiple of 50, I was thinking about 77 x 7 and how it's just three out from 542. There was no way to make 77 without losing the ability to make 7, but there was an easy way to make 7 x 7, which is 49.
