Since a neutral response is discussed, it might also be worth mentioning Habituation ("psychological learning process wherein there is a decrease in response to a stimulus after being repeatedly exposed to it." - basis for puppy socialization & building on strong puppy socialization w/ maintenance socialization through a dog's adolescence & into adulthood). It's interesting to note that aversive CC is not an uncommon approach in modifying addiction & other "self-rewarding" behaviors/tendencies in humans that are difficult to treat w/ cognitive approaches (eg shock Tx & pedophelia). One can see how easily this can be misapplied to reactive dogs.
