can we appreciate how good thoses animations were for an amateur team of basically 2 people in the late 90s ? many of thoses animations sticked to the 1.6 commercial version in 2004 ! One thing that make them so cool is that the weapons are held from a left handed person point of view, which is very unusual by today standards, especially on the AK and AWP. And the sounds are so iconic, even today some of them are still used in CSGO. CS was really a great game beyong being a great mod, with a lot of effort and talent put into it.

They were used way past 2004 in Counter Strike Source and then even Left 4 Dead 2 (2009)

gooseman (minh le) made all the animations up until valve bought them out... CS2 / CSGO animations seem very amateur in comparison (to the point where multiple guns share the exact same animation), where as these betas every single gun had their own unique animation.. love the reloads of the USP, Five seveN & dual elites especially

I remember it right I first played CS when it's already at Beta 6.1 when my neighbors invited me to play it in an internet shop more than a kilometer away from my house on late May of 2000. Back then hostage maps are more commonly played. When I stepped into college level, I played it more often, from weird pervert names I used to names I liked to use. Also in Beta days before version modes the character movements are more like Half Life than the current CS movements from jumping to running. Even when a player gets hit in Beta days, you can see they're hurt. The headshot kills started to appear in version 1.0 it was funny to me during my younger days as twitching legs always happen in HS kill. I also remember from 2001 to 2005 I played in an internet cafe in a big mall here in my country with 75 computers plus two dedicated servers just for CS games as at peak time there are at least 16 vs 16 games played in a single server. de_dust1 map looks so small when you have a 16 vs 16 game it makes both sides don't even attack at all until the round time runs out. Up to now I play FPS games, but a different FPS game that's popular in Asia and it's called CrossFire.

Sometimes i wonder why some hand models before 1.6 skins are different (like the fiveseven, dual, etc.), not only that but the hand model are a lot different too lol.
