Casey I'm optician I sell ray ban's sunglasses since 10 years and, they're legit, but they have defect on the lenses tint and mirror coating for sure, I got like 20 aviators getting this kind of issue with tint and gradient being defective during the past 10 year in the shop. For the bad plastic quality and feel, again, luxottica is making quite a bad job atm, I'm sure you're victim of it. My opinion ? Ray ban is Russian roulette, unless you can try a pair in a shop and see yourself that they're right, don't buy it... Plus, appart from Wayfarer, New Wayfarer, Clubmaster, Clubround and Aviator, a lot of their models are polycarbonate lenses, and sorry for that RB but wow, they are so bad, very scratch sensitive... My advice is to only go with glass models from them. Next time maybe try Maui Jim or Serengetti, that's were the real quality is :)

One more thing you can check casey is the RB LASER engraving on the temporal aide of the left lense, You should see "RB" really thin engraved, but I'm not sure they still do it on polycarbonate lenses... I'll check this today at the shop ! Édit : they do it on polycarbonate lenses on the backside of the lens and on the frontside of the lens on mineral lenses

i sell glasses for a living casy so hear me out. the darker shade can happen becouse the couler in the glasses fades over time. when a coustomer breaks thier glass we always order two new ones becouse of this. the texture of the frame should be the pritty much the same tho, but this also can change when you use them a lot. but the tell tale sight of fakes are the actual glasses in the frame. all raybans should be made from glas and not plastic. you often find plastic in fakes. and otherwise you have a really good nock off. if you go to a store where they sell glasses they should be able to remove them from the frame and see if its glas or not. when you drop them from like 1 cm you can hear the difrence between glas and plastic, glas has a higher ring to it. oh and if you want a good way to remove the rayban logo without scratching your glassen just dip an ear swab in nailpolich remover and whipe it over the logo. DO NOT TOCH THE FRAME!! it wil melt

I live in Florida and I had to evacuate, over 6 million people evacuated the roads were insane, and gas ran out everywhere. I slept two days in my car on an area rest because there was no hotels available, and took shelter in a church. Im trying to vlog all of this but I don't have how to upload it now. Im currently on my way back to Florida, I don't know what to expect. I tried to contact neighbors to see what's going on in my region but had no luck reaching them. Im scared of going back to a completely destroyed home. Not to mention that power is still off for millions of people. If you have a chance please pray for Texas and everyone that was affected by Irma. This is truly a very scary and sad situation.

Irma is (mostly) past the Orlando area, now. I've only lived here for about 2 years, so this was my first real hurricane experience. A little frightening, but we made it through. I know many people without power, and we have some minor damage on our building, but nothing like the devastation in the Caribbean. I agree with Keith. i work for an optical dispensary currently and on some models they change the materials to handle stress on the frame better as well. Could be new materials from a Chinese factory that feel different and have a sloppier build. I'm not defending Amazon sellers though there are some fakers but the truth may be due to Luxottica, the owner of Ray Ban. I know there is also a hotline that exists that will help you handle ray ban fraud exclusively from the manufacturer. First thing I would check though is if the place of purchase is an authorized Ray Ban seller.

You realize if a helmet is dropped from knee height, it's essentially junk. The foam inside the shell compacts and then does not absorb impact as well in that spot. So when you walked in and just dropped it from door knob height, it made it less effective. This just from reading up on motorcycle helmets in the past.

As a FL resident for most of my life, I've been through a number of hurricanes..Charlie, Francis, Jeanne, Ivan, Mathew..the list goes on. Irma was the worst. I'm happy to say we were out of power for 72 hours, but a neighbor up the road lost everything. A downed power line hit the house and it burnt to the ground. Thank goodness they evacuated.

Sunglass expert here- although I am unfamiliar with "folding" raybans. From the video they look authentic but different. Are they the same type of plastic? Zyl is typically used but they look like they could be made from the more flexible (cheaper) nylon.

RB etch on the side of the left lens from the behind is an identifier. What I felt was that the ones you held in this video have a very 'see through' mirror coat as opposed to a more opaque mirror in the previous one. If it's the same product with the same code, the opacity can't be different.

Hi Casey, I'm an italian engineer...This is my little guide for your Rayban. You shouldn't be able to detect any nicks, rough spots! Your classic black glasses have mineral lenses. I THINK the Purple ones have nylon lenses, much thinner and a cheaper feeling . The hinges in the corners of the glasses should be of a very good quality metal construction. Casey, you might be running into an issue where Luxotica has simply changed their manufacturing process for those frames and the quality has suffered. That's my best guess and I wouldn't put it past one of the largest corporations in the world to sacrifice quality for the sake of cost on a given product. This happens all the time.

Casey, thanks for your thoughts and good wishes for us in Florida. I'm in Fort Myers. No option to evacuate. I'm an RN in a large Emergency Department here, and we are required to be at work both during and after the storm. I dread what's coming, and I'm fearful that the results of the storm will be worse than people realize. Thanks again for the good wishes...

Nicole its actually a professional editing style that they teach you in film school to keep the viewer in the zone and focused on whats ahead without breaking the video into segments and explaining. harder to catch on but easier on patience. great to see a style like this actually utilized in a great way
