I never thought it was possible for a breakdown to make me cry. I couple years back, I had to put down my childhood cat Sorrel due to lymphoma. It had already spread throughout her whole body by the time she showed symptoms. It was too late to do anything. I was absolutely devastated. A little over a year after that, on the morning after thanksgiving, my mom woke me up and told me through tears that she just found my last remaining childhood cat, George, dead. The pain caused by pet loss is something that nobody seems to understand unless they’ve had pets. It’s a very stigmatized topic, lots of people say bullshit like “it’s just a cat”, but it really isn’t. They’re family. You can really tell just how much Kuma matters to Brendan, and I respect the hell out of that. Super happy that Kuma pulled through. He is one adorable boy.

The fact that an animal means so much to someone should be obvious and I've seen a lot of people do songs about their pet friends. But a metalcore song that is so heavy yet melodic, it's different. Brendand lyrics are my fav in all of music. Idc how small or big they are, Counterparts is special to me and I'm so glad that Kuma gets Brendan through tough times and that they both done it. Whatever will happen in the future, I hope you stay strong and never give up the love on your friends, family and pets wich are also friends and family. Love to Brendan for the most emotional song of the year so far. It's just beautiful.

We just had to put down our cat. My fiance found him when he was a day old. His parents were killed by something in the woods and she raised from day one. He was 16. She had him for half her life and this has been the hardest thing I've ever gone through. My fiance and I started dating 8 years ago, so I knew the little guy for half his life and he lived with me the last 6 years once we moved in together. It was throat cancer that took him, and it took him very quickly. I've been dreading for this song to appear on my Spotify this week, but it finally did. I'm crying my eyes out just typing this. I don't know what's harder, missing our boy, or knowing there is nothing I can do to help my fiance as we go through this. She is absolutely devastated. Rest in peace little Pepper, I'll miss you forever.

I lost my cat Cosmo back in 2017. He was only 4 and had a what was either a heart attack or stroke right in front of me at about 5 in the morning when I was half asleep. He was my best friend and helped me get through losing my grandparents. I was able to hold him for about a minute telling him non-stop that I loved him and that I’d see him on the other side, and that was it. It honestly traumatized me, and it still stings to this day. What comforted me about 14 months later was Cosmo visiting me in a dream with my Grandfather. Cosmo jumped up on me, rubbed his head on my head, and then I woke up. I’m more of a spiritual person than a religious person, but that dream gave me hope and comfort, and it still does. This incredible song made me choke up. Last week I was supposed to fly back home to visit my dog of 15 years who is going to be put down in the next few weeks, I had so much I planned to tell him in person and thank him for being such a good friend to me for all those years, but my girlfriend tested positive for covid the day before I was supposed to leave, so I had to cancel the trip. I’ve been so crushed ever since thinking about him laying on the floor waiting for me to come and see him. I feel for you my man. In 2017 I got my lifelong best friend and the primary reason I'm still alive today. My buddy Titus literally saved my life and is the best dog and friend I could have ever hoped for. I couldn't imagine losing him and I'm dreading the day that it happens.
