Recently, the revenue tracking website Statista released data on Pokémon GO's in-app purchase revenue for the year 2024, and it appears to be the lowest its been in years. However, this may not reflect the truth of Niantic's revenue. In this video, I will be talking about what this data truly reveals and whether or not we should be worried about whether or not Pokémon GO is going to continue on.

Major caveat, as the source itself states: **This is only the in-app purchases revenue**. These sites can not track any transactions through the webstore, or any in-person ticket purchases. Given how hard Niantic is pushing the webstore for extra deals nowadays, these graphs are even less reliable for 2023-data onwards.

I don’t spend any more money than needed to play this game. That’s due to the fact that these people are so money hungry it’s disgusting. I love the game but don’t like their greediness. $500 million from just in-store app sales I’m not to mention all the money they make on us for selling our information. They used to give us stuff for free another want us to pay for everything. Shouldn’t they be given us more if they’re making more that way we get out there and do more I don’t know.

No surprise here! They changed the avatars & even after begging from the community, refused to revert back so nobody spent on outfits. They took away the weekly remote pass a couple years ago & then later upped the price so I personally don't spend as much. The community days are only 3 hours, not even a full day so since I work weekends I no longer purchase the tickets although they were reasonably priced.

I don't want to sound negative but I think you are overly optimistic about Naintic. The game has been around for almost 9 years now and the drop in revenue is to be expected. Many players no longer spend as much as they used to myself, including because of the remote raid nerf and the boxes are really crap. I think for many players, we have 1 more good year left before we move on. I don't have faith in this company at this point. They show us how they really feel about the player base and we need to accept it at this point.

The people who are running this game, make bad business decisions, and I mean bad and not only that they don’t fix what’s currently left in the game. It is buggy and glitchy now for PVP a very small percentage of the community plays PVP because it is glitchy and there’s a whole bunch of cheaters in it. Getting ripped off, kicked out raids, and having $1 stolen from you multiple times was frustrating. Doubling the price and continuing to rip us off was where I just had to say, no thanks. I think a lot of people are quiet quitting pokemon go. many of my friends are slowly taking out their shiny pokemon from the game and once they finish they just quit. I think they have just burned so many bridges that many players are slow quitting or just straight up quitting and the reason spending is down is because the ones are who are spending are whales but i think the whales are starting to get fed up as well and i know 1 or 2 whales who stopped spending and are quitting because the game no longer respects their time and just they keep locking stuff behind paywalls and the game is not as fun as it was when they implemented the remote raid pass system. They also have messed up on a ton of other systems as well.

It's very rock, paper, scissory, you can try and win, but it's very difficult if you get a bad match atart like charizard vs swampert, swampert will most likely win, so you switch to say a steelix, the your opponent will switch to a fighting type and you can't switch out due to a timer, so you're very likely to los those matches. There is lots of lag, and frame skipping at times which leads to a lot of losses. And if you win too much, it starts pinning you up against matches that you're more likely to lose since it tries ro keep your win ratio to around 50%.

It is necessary that legendary raids can be done between 3 players. The Go communities are getting smaller and smaller, before I could find 5 players without a problem to do raids, nowadays if I find one, and if you want to invite someone they don't dare because they say that between 3 they won't knock it down and they don't want to. waste the pass. They should implement, like in the dynamax, that if you join with the pass and don't defeat it, don't lose it, or increase the time so that you can knock it down among fewer people. The same thing happens with dynamaxes, it is difficult to find a community to do the most complicated raids, so that you can carry more pokes or so that you can invite people; Go from a few years ago must be aware that it will not return and that remote playability must be expanded so that the few that remain, especially in small communities, are encouraged to spend. I have more than 100 raid tickets and I can't spend them because I can't do them alone or even with another person, I don't buy particles because I can't find 3 more people to do dynamax/gigamax.

I think Niantic could possibly add a multi-tiered appearance effect item that was originally introduced in a spin-off game for Pokemon called the Snag Machine where it could be used based off of the tier for catching Pokemon easier based off the catch ring. I see the Snag Machine Go will be a 3 Tiered item that will have a timer that can be increased via Origin Dialga's Roar of Time to extend the time out, but it will only bump up the catch ring Once for the selected Pokemon you are trying to catch to keep it balanced. I will pay for the Go Fest Event this year and will be buying Poke Coin Vouchers because of the amount per dollar. EDIT: How I see the Snag Machine GO to be added to Pokemon GO is as a paid Masterwork Research and it gains tiers as X usages for each tiers where Tier 3 needs a lot of time to be used while out and about.

Personally, I hate all pay to win style transactions and I wish they were all a thing of the past, but if they have to exist, it should be as you said. Something can be attainable over time, or made easier with money. The game now just feels like a constant roulette wheel spin and money just gives you more spins. The system makes me not want to contribute any real money at all. They need to introduce some way to increase a pokemon's IVs, no matter how slow the process. I'd be ok with a slower way that's free and a paid way that's slightly faster.

I went free to play shortly after the remote raid nerf and now find myself barely touching the game, even for tours and special events. I've also turned off adventure sync, unsubscribed from all PoGo KZbin channels but yours, and haven't visited the Silph Road Reddit thread in at least 6 months. I don't think this was what Niantic intended for players like me.

When they increased the prices on tickets for community day, I stopped spending. I bought them earlier because they were cheap and gave me a little extra, I also bought some for my friends as well. Now, I can't afford that as often anymore, so for the most part I never purchase tickets anymore. I no longer find the bundles appealing either.

The reason why Niantic made the web store is so they don't have to pay the 30% cut to Apple or Google when players make a purchase within the app itself. I thought epic got into a lot of legal trouble from Apple by doing something similar with fortnite so I'm wondering how Niantic is getting away with doing something similar, yet most likely different with a known loophole.

Thanks for spelling out where the report falls short on the full picture. As a level 50 player who has played since close to the beginning, I have all the pokemon and not a lot of desire to drop coin on raids beyond the freebies. I buy incubators and the occasional Max Particle pack for Gigantamax battles. If they make interesting things, I will play and pay for some of it.

If they introduced the possibility of converting raid passes into remote raid passes for activity (walking, some intercourses with other players, etc.), more free-to-play players (from less urbanized areas where it's hard to find someone to raid) would play (also those who are currently on spoofing tools could switch to the legal version). And you know - more players, more popularity, more opportunity to attract new ones (including paying ones). In addition, in places with a small number of spots/gyms, it would be worth considering increasing the spowns or reducing the requirements for creating new...

Niantic has kept sister-game ingress going even though it seems to be way more dead than pogo. Lately they have been making it unplayable giving too few cubes for recharge. An attempt at getting people to buy stuff maybe ? It seems like a bad strategy, as even player who play for free quit. Niantic seems to forget that the playerbase is what gets new players recruited. No playerbase, no chance of a game revival. In my town pogo has made a comeback it seems, with the young teens who played years ago, now returning. Some of them surely use money on the game.

Should be bad luck protection on raids, if you raid the same legendary 20 times without a shiny, the next one is guaranteed. That way shiny hunters from the main game have an incentive to play go. I know a lot would rather shell out money to remote raid than soft resetting for a 1/4096 for possible weeks.

My bro told me it was one of the best year ever to play. 2024 was okish. 2025, from the last month and new add on that we did not ask for dynamax and gmax. From the avatar, to remote raids, to the bismil event f-ups. I see why they ain't making money. used to spend a lot on this game, I liked hatching eggs, but I am free to play now and have been for a few years now, the chances of anything good from eggs is so slim I can't justify the outlay now. everything seems pay walled now, and the extra money to get better shiny odds, that kind of thing, I've never really noticed any difference. One event I paid for the extras, one of the Go Fests a while back. My haul of mons and shines was no better than peeps I was with who did the freeplay option. Only way I can let em know is by not buying into it anymore.

Honestly, it won't be good or bad for me if the game was shut down. Do I enjoy it? Yes. But I mostly use it for Mythicals and shinies I cannot get in the mainline games, so the loss of it would hurt in that way, but not terribly. That said I almost never make purchases except ocassional remote and premium raid passes and GO Fest tickets simply for raiding and Mythicals. There's plenty of options out there for your time so the loss of this wouldn't be good or bad. Just simply change.

I think most people quit because nothing is random. Doesn’t make sense that we walk around for 8 hours and see weedle or Mankey but never see a drowzee or something more extravagant like aerodactyl. That’s why I quit in 2017 and it’s worse now but there’s just more to do now. 2016 and 2017 it was just catch Pokémon and now we have dynamax, go battle league, and even friend battle.

If Niantic put the price of remote raid pass more cheap people will buy more Sometimes when you spend your pokecoins, the next day you have new and good bundles to make you buy I dont want to talk about the bugs and more... I am glad people is stop wasting money in pokemon go, its the only way to make niantic realize that the community is not happy

Well what do you expect players to do when the game always has one bug or another? They don't even fix it, bugs stay there for months. The bugs they do remove are useful ones (Like the mega self boost). And how the remote raids, which once took this game's revenue to a new high, are now unreasonably priced and makes people think thrice before spending on that. Almost all aspects of game seem like they aren't worth spending on, be it event tickets or raid passes. Niantic is doing a terrible job at customer satisfaction and at providing a fully functional game without the bugs. I've lost hope they'll truly listen and take actions on the feedback, and thus it is only a matter of time before even the f2p people I know stop playing the game entirely. Such is player satisfaction level right now

The remote raid passes also cost the same as premium raid passes. Isn't that funny we paid a lower price for remote passes and they made more money. Now we pay more money for the remote passes and they make less money. And to top that off we're paying for every single event. We don't have Elon Musk money.

After seeing how they did dynamax raids and how much it needs you to pay money for the particles in order to do more than one, i gave up on spending money on the game entirely

Stuck on lucky trades at 48 and no love for G max battles. It is an isolated feature not worked into the rest of the gameplay. I buy global go-fest annually and occasionally $10 in coins, so probably $50 a year for the past 3 years. Keldeo was the last other purchase I recall.

i dont think the revenue from the app is used for anything other then proving engagement and ARR numbers to investors. The real money is from third part data sales and AI model training apparently.

I dnt mind that they nerfed remote raids but it was a hard nerf. Either increase the price or limit the amount per day, not both. I dnt remote raid within the city anymore so I’m not really helping ppl out taking down raids. And now there are no good boxes for in person raids. The boxes themselves are kinda lackluster. Paying for timed research has also turned me away from spending money in the game. I have limited dollars for gaming. Right now, they hafta contend with Fortnite, Disney Speedstorm, and Marvel Rivals for those dollars.

Personally I would never buy anything not permanent Data takes a lot to store so I gladly "buy" a f2p game by pumping some storage numbers But in Pokemon GO it's pushing lotto purchases through Incubators and at worst Raid Passes where the mon still has a ever so slight chance of running I'd also be interested in purchasing the old Masterwork/Mythic Research missions, but they just don't release those for who've missed them.

Pokémon Go has likely shifted from an AR company to a data broker. I wouldn't be surprised if they are making more money collecting and selling the location data we gather as we walk around our communities than they lose limiting remote raid passes.
