The Philippines did not *gain* independence until after WW2. The USA annexed them after the Spanish-American war (1888) , and then the Japanese took them over in 1492, just before they attacked Pearl harbour. As part of WW2 ending, the Philippines gained independence from America.

Hey I just want to let you know that we didn't get our independence by anyone, Our first president (Soekarno) declared it in 1945 August 17 where the Japanese were severely hurt from the nuke that America dropped in Nagasaki and Hiroshima, Sukarno took that opportunity And signed the declaration of independence, although the Japanese Empire promised Indonesia Independence in December, it looked like that will never happen. I enjoyed the video btw, but next time please learn from the country, not the western media 😄😃
