This is totally unrelated but Philippines is our "back-to-back blocker." Colombia won in 2014 and almost won in 2015 but Philippines snatched the crown. South Africa won in 2017 and almost won again in 2018 but Philippines took the crown.

When their contestants are deserving and one of the most perfect candidates for winning these pageants, then they should definitely give a tough competition to other contestants. Philippines’ legacy is clear in their numerous winners and placements, and I hope they shine even brighter in the following years (which they will, considering that their candidates are getting better and better each year). This is coming from an Indian who is rooting for Manasa to win Miss World. It appears that you are diminishing the spirit of the beauty pageants. We should be extremely happy for the women from other countries who perform extremely well at the pageants, it is a celebration of the world and womanhood whenever a new Miss Universe or Miss World is crowned. It’s good to root for your country but to put another country down AND disrespect their well earned legacy is not what Indian values are and what Indian people stand for. Kindly reevaluate your perspective. And I am sorry on the behalf of the commentator for the people, especially Filipino people who read this comment. I still rewatch Pia’s and Catriona’s crowning and they are one of my favourite Miss Universes. Love them! Also it always brings a smile to my face when I see Steve calling Philippines and the entire stadium roaring for their contestant. Beautiful patriotism!

I want India to place in the top 5 because it's our record that whenever India won we placed in the top five atleast in the next year 1994- Sushmita Sen (Winner) 1995- Manpreet Brar (1st runner up) 2000- Lara Dutta (Winner) 2001- Ceilina Jaitley (4th runner up)

Also, I'm taking into consideration that the last three Miss Universe have won the third crown for their respective countries (South Africa in 2019, Mexico in 2020, and India in 2021) so we should look for countries that have won Miss Universe twice such as Brazil, Thailand, Canada, and Colombia to name a few. Another pattern would be seeing Puerto Rico winning Miss Universe 2022 given that in 1994, Puerto Rico crowned India and in 2001, India crowned Puerto Rico so since India won Miss Universe in 2021, does it mean that Puerto Rico will win in 2022. Or maybe India will crown a country from Asia (such as Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand), which will be the first time that the Miss Universe crown gets to stay in the Asian continent for two years in a row.

@@avishkajha7g709 In fact, India has made a great comeback ever since 2019 and I'm hoping for India to place again in top 5 and even in top 3 because Indian delegates are the whole package: stage presence, catwalk skills, interview/public speaking skills and confidence. In fact, when I made the predictions for Miss Universe 2021, I was torn between India, Colombia, and Puerto Rico and I was paying close attention to each of these three ladies prior to the Miss Universe prelims and I said that India had better chances to take it all given that not only she is gorgeous and has an amazing catwalk but her confidence when she speaks is what is going to help her take it all and that idea was solidified after prelims because Harnaaz worked that stage like nobody's business and in the final night, as the night was progressing, she kept getting better and better and better until she snatched that crown. As you can imagine, I was thrilled even though I was also rooting for Puerto Rico because I'm Puerto Rican but I knew that it was going to be IMPOSSIBLE to defeat Harnaaz because she was UNSTOPPABLE.

This was a great list. I think Jamaica may very well earn its first Miss Universe crown in the next few years as well. From 2010 to 2020, they gained 5 placements, three of which were Top 5 finishes (2010, 2014 and 2017). I'm not sure how well they prepare their queens but given their recent momentum they may soon send the right woman who brings it home. It's surely due, since the English-speaking Caribbean has not had a winner since Trinidad and Tobago's Wendy Fitzwilliam in 1998.

I agree with Colombia and South Africa. They were very consistent. Although PH is always in the semis, the performance, for me, is a hit-or-miss to be in the Final 10 or Final 5. Col and SA both have great balance in placements in the recent decade.

English speaking skill is not the only requirement. It's not even a requirement though it is an advantage. Venezuela won back to back in 2009 and she didn't speak in English. She learned it during her reign.

Love this episode! Also, another “way” to predict on which county that might win MU is by checking on the previous Miss World winners. USA won MW 2010 then MU 2012, Venezuela won MW 2011 then MU 2013, Philippines won MW 2013 then MU 2015, South Africa won MW 2014 then MU 2017, India won MW 2017 then MU 2021, Mexico won MW 2018 then MU 2020. So maybe we should watch out for Spain (MW 2015), Puerto Rico (MW 2016), and Jamaica (MW 2018) ❤️

That's a good observation, but I doubt MU organization cares about MW winners. Also, most countries have different organisations for MU and MW. So, it comes down to how these organisations choose their candidate fit for respective pageants.

After Paulina Vega passes the crown to Pia, latin seems struggling to get the title due to the Q&A portion. But I have a strong feeling that latin will get the crown this year, since they are starting to recruit international models/celebrities that is doing quite well in speaking. @@skate3062 bullshit. their interview skills and Q&A in Vietnamese are strong. Their weakness is their limited English skills but they will improve as the younger Viets English are much better. Their beauty is already there and they don't rely on half breed whites like the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia whom constantly send half white girls to compete. Vietnam sends a pure Vietnamese with no mixed white girls.

I agree that india's placement history was not so good. But due to sponsership change in 2019 and upgrade in their digital team has changed the game completely. Honestly I don't see any other country is as strong in creating momentum after competition starts. 10:05 -- Most likely it is because of her navy-training and decorum that may explain why Sgt. Gomez did not experience that much difficulty (I am not saying she "never did") in terms of pageant prep since she already had the discipline to begin with thus everything just fell into place-- NOT an "easy-breezy" thing for her to do since the navy lifestyle and pageantry are two polar opposite platforms but, more or less, it was still somewhat of a "walk in the park" for her.

To add my thoughts: I feel like Vietnam is on the right track as Indonesia. They are getting nearer to the crown but they should work on their Q&A. France, for me, is also getting nearer towards another crown. Japan, too, has a great chance. Just like Spain, Japan can snatch the title if they are lucky enough to have amazing prep and support. Also rooting for Ukraine, although I am sceptical of the level of prep that they might do for their contestants given the current situation there. Another bet from me would be Venezuela. I don't think Venezueal should really be out of our lists since we will just be surprised if they bag another crown in the next few years.

India and Puerto Rico has always had a special connection in Miss Universe. MU 1993 (PR) crowned MU 1994 (India) and MU 2000 (India) crowned MU 2001 (PR). It would be interesting if the pattern repeats this year as well.

Not too early to predict the winner , Dani ! I started to watch the Miss Universe in Malaysia 🇲🇾 TV since 1985 and I was only 14. I just hope my country could make it at the semifinals 😊🤗🙏. Czech Republic and Poland always send a over all perfect but it always neglected Puerto Rico and Colombia always send a very high competitive candidates but the problem sometimes is attitude and the style is always the same like Colombia they always stays Gold if not its Silver.
