Nanelle, thanks for the detailed information you provided. However with respect to Canada, IRCC try to prevent abuse by use of "processing time". When a country is red flagged the processing time for visitors visas for their national is always very long. There was a time last year when processing time for visitors visa from Nigeria was over 700 days. As you know any pregnant applicant for visitors visa will have given birth before their application is processed. I know this, as I'm an immigration consultant in Canada.

In New Zealand you have to have Permanent Residency or be a New Zealand citizen. Only children that have parents that are recognized refugee status by New Zealand Immigration via the UN agency or other recognized agencies obtain NZ citizenship. NZ only takes in 1500 refugees a year. Asylum is not easily obtained. Your pregnancy care as a non citizen will be paid by you.

Citizenship is a stepping stone for freedom in many things. If your Nigerian or Ghana passport is strong people from other countries will grab your passport and invest in your country. If Ghana football players or somebody like Anthony Joshua didn't have Citizenship of the country they were born in, how will the get that much wealth to invest in their African countries. Thatd why dual citizenship is good for Africans in diaspora.

Dear Nanelle i appreciate your informative and educative piece. However, i am a bit worry now about the craze for Africans to migrate and seek citizens in European and other foreign countries while only few foreigners even brother to visit Africa much less of obtaining the citizenship. While i understand the reason for this rat race no thanks to bad governance and poverty in the land. I said i am a bit worry because we are setting agenda for another form of slavery and devaluation of self esteem. It's over 200 years that Black or Africans have been citizens of America tell me what's the status of a typical Africa America in the US? Not a good story except few cases we call outliers in data science or statistics. That brings to the question what do we do? if African do not want to be perpetual second or third class global citizen i think whoever has the opportunity to migrate abroad should make it as cardinal goal to get the wealth and bring it back to Africa. This is the only way we can retrieve our wealth stolen during slavery and colonial periods. The Europeans came to Africa and plunder our human and natural resources and used them to develop Europe. Now that God is given us the opportunities to retrieve our dtolen wealth it will be foolhardy and naive to think by staying put in Europe is the best way otherwise we would continue to raise generation upon generation of slaves. Please lets begin to bring the goodness from abroad back to Africa.
