Way too often I meet people, who are completely clueless about a few important numbers of this world. So I made a short video to fix that. EDIT: I don't hate Australia, I was just joking around, give me a break. 2) I'm always referring to Australia the continent, not the country ("Australia" and "Oceania" are both legitimate terms when talking about the continent, though they comprise slightly different land masses)

People bow all the time in Korea (and Japan, China, etc.). The more senior/old/important the person, the deeper you bow. It's like their version of a handshake (only classier and more hygienic). It's called showing respect, and we could do with a bit more of it in the West these days. ;)

when you speak about Europe, one point about your "burocratic" mention. Maybe EU is burocratic but if it wouldn't exist...maybe you will be here fighting our wars instead of making videos. So let's take some consideration to EU and let's think a little bit why it exists. EU is a way for these small european countries to decide our relationships without wars, and until now it has produced more that 70 years of peace.
@JBinero7 жыл бұрын
Ismael Hernández And let's not forget why it's bureaucratic. There is 28 member states which have a lot of disagreements, that have to work together somehow. Having bureaucratic rules eases that by a lot.

You can compare GDP and power but purchasing power is much different. In Netherlands you have about 4-5 times the money of Croatian but about 2 times the purchasing power.
@DataLog7 жыл бұрын
Well this tells you how much power does your money have in your country. It should be counted in while trying to determine who is the "best" XD. I will make an example with big countries USA and Russia. Russian military defense budget is about $70 billion. Usa was 600 now it will be 800 billion. And Russia is still on the level and in many technologies a few orders of magnitude ahead (like rocket technology and non nuclear explosive devices for example). So Russia spends about 1/10 of the USA military budget. Why? Because you can buy a lot more in Russia for the exactly the same money (this is also good for the economy because foreigners want to buy from you and you can export your inflation, that's why all the gold after crisis ends up in "poor" countries). Also a smaller example is let's say that you need 15-20million dollars a year for maintaining laboratory in USA, you will need 2-3million in Croatia for the exact same thing.
@JBinero7 жыл бұрын
The bureaucrat you took a stab at was one of the world's most longest serving democratically elected official in history, before he even got started in the EU. There's a good reason he's now leading the EU Commission.

One thing a lot of people don't really know about Australia is we all live on the coastline of Australia because it's very dangerous and hard to live in the desert (which majority of Australia is just a dessert). So we can't just live on the middle of the country where it's over 50℃ everyday. I get that we don't have a big population but it's better that way, we can't even support a country with 50 million, we actually kind of struggling and we only have 24 million as a whole country. My point is we might have huge land but majority of it isn't safe to live.

Assuming that GDP would have grown in africa to the same degree, without population growth is stupid. Its like assuming that if we pump all the money into education machine, it will pop out nobel prize winners, and techno utopia. No it doesn't work that way, while these things statistically correlate, there is a lot more going on. (as an example that money spent on education, can go anywhere from corrupt burocrats, nicer school buildings, to higher paid but just as incompetent teachers)
@The-Rest-of-Us8 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Africa is suffering from a lack of good institutions. If you look around the world, you will find that generally countries with a smaller population tend to be better organised, simply because there are less people, who need to be organised. China is a rare counterexample to this rule, but took quite extreme societal measures over the years to get where they are. I genuinely believe that Africa would have had a much easier time realising its enormous potential, would the population simply not have outgrown the economy so early and so quickly.
@martonlerant56728 жыл бұрын
***** Population growth is not related to quality of organisation. Africa's main problem is lack of innovation, and knowledge in general.
@JBinero7 жыл бұрын
He never claimed that would be the case. As he said at the end, this is about putting the numbers in perspective. If africa hadn't grown for such a long time, but had the same production, it'd still only have the GDP per capita of Russia.

gdp PPP is more accurate than nominal. If you had $5 and an apple costed 2$, you cant buy many apples. If you had $5 but an apple costs only 50 cents, then you can buy many more apples and thus your actual wealth is different.
