I dont think it's fair to say Butter defines their new sound. Don't get me wrong, Butter is a really good song but ARMYs would know that BTS has always been adventurous with the genres they've tackled. Telling people that this was their new sound would easily push them away from seeing the variety BTS has always shown us :((

I found it (sadly) amusing that Butter would be considered music geared more towards girls, for two reasons: 1) I am a woman and I like Fire better than Butter (and their rap line stuff and their earlier music, and back in the day I was a Journey/Styx/Foreigner/Def Leppard/Rush/Queen fan), and 2) Butter was written (largely) for the Western pop music industry by Western songwriters and music producers (only one of which was a woman; the other six were men, including RM of BTS). I understand not liking it less because it’s less one’s musical taste, but not the generalization of it as being somehow “less than” because it must appeal to women. Music doesn’t have a gender. I think you could both do with an introductory video about BTS. I recommend the newest one called “DRAFT BTS Member Introduction” by Taylor Nakamoto first, or the 2021 update that xCeleste did to “THIS IS BTS | Introduction to BTS”, or “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Goes On” by The Asian Theory.

I agree with you. I'm a teenage female, but I like Fire better than Butter. They're both great, but Fire has that badass feeling that I like very much. I know some male kpop fans, and the majority of them like Butter more than Fire. Music doesn't have a gender. It depends on your mood or feelings what kind you want to listen to.

I'm with you 100% Their English stuff, 'Butter,' 'Dynamite,' 'Permission to Dance,' are fun, but I definitely prefer 2013-2018 BTS stuff more and I became ARMY around 2017. I'm also a 25 year old woman. 🤣

@@carlycchapman became an adult in the 90s.... was never before into boygroups or Hiphop/Rap... but Their gift are lyrics. The English songs are bops and have their reason for existing but in the time they made so much more music: solo stuff like the full "Blue Side", "Christmas Love", "Abyss", "Bycicle" or "Super Tuna", colabs with other artists like "Film Out" (Japanese), "don'`t", the song with Omi or "My Universe" with Coldplay; Soundtracks: "Yours", "Stay Alive", "Christmas Tree" and so on... some stuff has MVs or is on Albums bit a lot of stuff hasn't or is on other stuff... The genre is chosen after the message/the lyrics... yes sound is first but if you don't have a lyrical message for it the song is laid to the side first till that changes. I think watching bby gang mag's video essays help: for example. "BTS vs KPOP" And lets all watch "The Rise of Bangtan" documentary. It is so brilliant with so much context! From Lisa's list I actually only like XCeleste works without any restrictions the others... 4 of 5 stars because they can't help but be slightly skewed with a little going into the wrong direction/missinterpretation as people define stuff differently/ leave out stuff that would be more important for others. We reflect ourselves onto content after all. Borahae!

Just listening to BTS without looking up their lyrics, you're robbing yourself of one of the best things about them. I understand just vibing, to the music, but do try to look up some of their Korean lyrics sometimes. As someone who's always loved literature and studied it too, their lyrics was the first thing that really impressed me about them. They also write a lot of their songs, so their lyrics are usually speaking from their hearts and deal with often heavy but important issues. Kpop is very often just to vibe to it and there's nothing wrong with that, but one of the reasons BTS is so popular and stand out among kpop groups is because of their lyrics. Check out Spring Day, Black Swan, Life Goes On or Fake Love for example and you might understand better.

“i don’t know what the words are, i just listen to it…” one of the reasons bts is so huge (beloved really) is because of often insightful, meaningful, challenging , often anti-establishment lyrics. even in this edm song they say “it’s okay to live as just who we are because we are young. What kind of spoon you are to say such a thing to me, calling me a spoon when I’m a human” (in s. korea “spoon” refers to the idea that individuals can be classified into different socioeconomic classes based on the income or assets of their parents and that one’s success in life depends entirely on being born into a wealthy family.) they have over 200 songs in their discography, over 300 when you count their mixtapes, soundcloud releases and covers. they rarely sing fluff and if they do, the reason for it is for comfort. but yeah, we definitely love the dancing too! 💜

I enjoyed this reaction a lot😊 Just letting you know, bts has a lot more layers of reasons to why they are the biggest then just great choreographies and pretty faces. I'm gonna write some of them if you are curious about it. They co write and co produce their music and their lyrics are a big part of their success. They documented their growth from struggling teens to healthy superstars really well in their music. They have genuinely talented rappers who write every one of their verses. And mind you, rap and hip hop is a big part of their music. They have a big discography with variety of genres. Their 3 english songs cater a lot to western audiences, just like their japanese songs catering to japan, but they still release korean songs that they want to make, including solo songs and albums. Great performers. Great stages. Great stage mixes. Great dance breaks. Rosebowl-best concert of my life🥺🥺 Their personalities and chemistry. This one you don't believe it till you see it. Honestly it is hard to not feel their sincerity when you watch enough content(they have so many) I never "stanned" a boygroup before and started watching their behind the scenes to spot the ones who potentially hate the others (i was bored you see) and the jokes were on me, i was living in the rabbit hole for 4 years. It is also very easy to relate them since they share a lot of vulnerable thoughts. Also their underdog story is probably a big part too. And their growth is too well documented, they started to film a lot of raw content back when they were nobodies. Also they have this power to make people feel so strongly about them to leave long comments like this haha

I know you don't mean anything bad by it, but saying that Butter caters more to female audience is a pretty funny stereotype. While they definitely have male fans, their fanbase was predominantly female from the start. Media portray female fans a certain way, so I understand why you think about us like that, but trust me, our music tastes are as versatile as male music taste. Butter is good, but I personally wouldn't put it even into my top 50 BTS songs. Probably not even top 100. And Fire would be WAY above it. Oh, also, don't let their English songs mislead you. Their music style hasn't change as much as you might thing from that. They never stuck to just one genre for an album or something. UGH is a 2020 song after all.

Loved that you chose my top 3 kpop groups (and also the top 3 most popular kpop groups). Really like the honest opinions. It's so funny that when you introduce someone to kpop you have to explain several other things like there's rapline, dance line, vocal line, how the whole kpop thing is very different than western music industry. Kpop is a whole package and it feels like a full-time job to stan a group due to so much content. It's very fun though

Thank for reacting to BTS!!! They have three full English songs that where released that here just to help uplift people during these hard time (covid). They aren’t super deep for a purpose. While BTS choreography is one reason their big I think the BIGGEST reason is their lyrics. Lyrics for BTS are very important. BTS is a group of seven men. Three rappers and four vocalists. They write, compose, and produce their own music. Along side their in-house producers. Everything they put out has their input. They write about a lot of important topics such as; mental health, bullying, regret, follow your dreams, Carl Jung theory, being lonely, feeling lost, self love, etc. (many many more) 90% of BTS music that sounds like girls are not. 90% of their songs that sound like love songs are actually deeper. Their are many forms of love; friendship, family, self love, etc. Although it may sometimes not seem like it but majority of ARYM (which is the name of the fandom) is actually 25-60 years old (their are a lot of older fans too). BTS has a song or songs for EVERYONE if people are willing to look/listen. They do A lot of genres and mix a lot genres. Personally Butter isn’t my favorite but I have grown to actually really like it. It is a great song just make you want to dance just like their other full English songs. If you are interested in getting to know BTS pls react to these (don’t worry about long videos majority of Army will watch if it is about BTS): -Who is BTS Introduction to BTS by xceleste (get to know BTS as a group) -Introduction to the BTS members by Taylor Nakamoto -Nobody’s to Legend’s 2019 by xceleste -BTS Crash Course 2020 by Suga and Spice (get to know what their albums are about up to 2020) Also as long as you show the logo at the beginning of BTS music video you shouldn’t get blocked or get a strike. The company sees it as free advertising. What genre of music do you like? Other recommendations (turn on cc): -Fake Love -Ugh (*dkdktv explanation video for Korean references and wordplay) -Black Swan -On kinetic Manifesto Film -Persona (+dkdktv explanation video -Shadow (+dkdktv explanation video) -Ego (+dkdktv explanation video) -Make it Right -Who by Lauv ft. BTS -Truth Untold live English subtitles -Zero O’clock (their is an animated video) -Paradise -Mic Drop -LY: Answer -Epiphany -Magic Shop -Your Eyes Tell Performance recommendations: -Tiny Desk Home Concert -BTS room live -Armypedia Edit: I forgot to mention literally came from the bottom up. Has worked really hard to where they are today. They get A LOT of hate, prejudice, xenophobia, etc. While going through all of that they are very sweet, kind, funny, chaotic, and very humble.

BTS are all about their messages and lyrics, so turning on the subtitles are a good idea. They aren't just pretty dancers, they are very amazing artists. Their English pop songs aren't representative of them as a whole. I would have shown him ON: Kinetic Manifesto film, and Black Swan from their 2020 album Map of the Soul: 7. and turn on the CC's. They debuted as a Hip Hop Idol group in 2013, and they are known for crossing and fusing many genre's. BTS has always written and produced their own music, and they always have a message. Even their most recent album BE from November of 2020 was so much different from their MOTS: 7 album from February 2020. Their discography is extensive, over 300 songs. There is a reason they are so popular and successful. BTS paved the way for K Pop in the Western Market. No other group has been able to break down barriers for K Pop like they have. I was wondering how many BTS videos have you watched, and how long have you been listening to them? It looks like you are more of a girl group fan. Anyway, I would like to link you some songs to react to. I will link MV's and live performances. Also, Butter was performed live many times, and it's better to watch it live. “Girl Group cuz I’m a guy”. I can relate. I prefer the boy groups cuz I’m a woman. That and the dancing tends to be more interesting/nuanced/energetic/hip hop influenced. K-Pop girl groups (except Mamamoo (who? Me? Biased?)) tend to sound and look alike to me. In all honesty, so do most of the K-Pop boy groups (except Hybe’s (what? Another bias showing up?)), but the industry is evolving. It will be interesting to see the changes. I’m old enough to have seen the evolution of “Country Music” into mainstream Pop music. It’s the only advantage of the aging process, I can put together what has changed over the past 70 years. “Butter” is geared to the Western audience unfamiliar with K-Pop not just “girls” - imho.

Definitely wouldn’t say butter represents bts new sound… it’s more like the only songs they have had the least amount of input in when it comes to lyrics, concept and production… their all English songs are an extremely light hearted kind of vibe bc of the pandemic but the best representation of them and their music is anything they’re involved in creating … he will love them I guarantee it… would love to see more bts for sure and blackpink… I would absolutely suggest paying attention to the lyrics… some of the most important part is the words and the meanings bc it’s what people stay for…. The music is fire, the live is insane the dancing and the rapping… but what we love bts for is the sincerity in speaking the truth about issues taboo in Korea … even on fire… it’s 100% extremely important…. It’s what set bts apart at the time especially. I think It would help you even to look into that part of them

Why were you making the video of the K pop songs disappear only showing half of it constantly making it vanish only half of it vanished only half of it no reason to do that! Do you not know anything about the fair use clause of the copyright law? Anyway, you chopped off the intro sequence to BTS videos not supposed to do that! HYBE labels corporation formerly known as big hit entertainment considers reaction channels to be free advertisement for their artists. But they can't get advertisement if you chop off the intro sequence which in videos before 2021 had the big hit entertainment what logo. After January 2021 they have the big hit music logo. Friends BTS and their little brother group TXT fall under big hit music one of the eight subsidiary companies owned by HYBE labels corporation formerly known as big hit entertainment. Including the company, they own in the United States that has artists such as Ariana Grande Justin Bieber and The Weekend signed to the label. So these artists and about 30 other in the United states are part of the same family of companies as BTS.

@JeeeshPham Really fun reaction - with some reservations. The two of you need to get "woke" to some things. If I had energy and time, I'd make a list and elaborate more, but I trust my fellow ARMY covered most of it. My summary is - you've been programmed by western culture to be gender-normative and defensive of your masculinity, and it isn't OK. Every bit of it has roots in misogyny. Please learn, grow, and ask questions. You guys seem open to it. As for fashion, BTS deliberately pushes boundaries because clothes really do make the man. Are you man enough to wear a skirt to the airport? Also, sorry to your grandma, but she never looked that good in pearls. LOL ;-)

You're Korean I think? and you can't understand Korean so why didn't you turn the closed captions on in English?' cause I'm gathering you don't have them on cause he asked you if you knew what they were saying or what the theme was.. Every music video has a explanation video a video of the making of the music video. For every BTS song they have a color coded look lyric video subtitles and Korean writing Korean western alphabet and English. some music videos have more than one version. For example their music video butter which was their third all English song. The first video was their original format official music video. The second video was butter hotter remix. Then they had a cooler remix and a special performance video not technically a music video. Then they had a remix version of butteri collaboration with Megan thee Stallion.

242 likes already what's wrong with you people didn't you know this how the video they were watching was disappearing completely and then it only had the top half of it visible and then it would disappear again and only the top half was visible and then the whole one was visible then it would disappear and then it would be back again and then only the top half of it was visible! It's obvious that this guy does not know how to make a reaction video especially to BTS since they do not hit reactors with copyright strikes or blocks that's done by KZbin. And anybody that knows anything about You Tube policy if your video is blocked you just wait three days and it's unblocked. So, wait the damn three days instead of screwing up the darn music video. So maybe the reason that you were messing around with the video instead it's just showing the entire tire music video through your whole reaction. Could be but you obviously know nothing about the fair use clause for the copyright law you're supposed to have the text to it in your description. Where was the statement verbally in your video or in the description stating that you had no ownership in the copyrighted material you were watching? Where was your statement in the description or on the video that you had no expectations of any monetary gain for posting this reaction? I'm guessing that you didn't even have the English closed captions turned on. No credits for the artist or the companies owning the music videos we're in your description no description of the music videos at all.

@@nightrain4980 People always use the number of subscribers Blackpink has to say that's part of the reason they are the biggest group. But people have to keep in mind BTS mv's and content is spread across multiple channels. Their mv's aren't even on their official group channel, that puts BTS at a disadvantage for subscribers. But if you look at pretty much everything else BTS beats Blackpink in pretty much everything else. Sales, streams, total views, monthly listeners, sold out world tours, awards, etc. Not to mention the quality and versatility of BTS music is a lot better than Blackpink's.

@@crystalsnow1138 only in YT. bTS is the most followed group in Spotify. BP is nowhere near them evn in YT streams and Spotify streams. And streams r the least reason we say BTS is the biggest, the mere fact tht BTS is the top selling artists even surpassing Adele and TS and their ability to sell out stadiums anywhere in the world and their performance is worldwide charts r the main rsn. Not only BP no other K-pop group has managed to sell out large stadiums as BTS has done. Its always " source : trust me" frm blinks when they r asked to show the statistics. Some may wonder y i am making such an issue out of this small comment by other person, let me tell u, it's not bcz this comment in YT, but for past several days blinks r getting into ARMYs buisiness in stan twt ( ofcourse they were ratioed as they hav no proofs).

I started out as a Blink and I love them. But BTS has accomplished so much, and has broken down barriers in the Music Industry that has helped to promote K Pop overall. They are the dominant group globally right now.
