Just on a side note, I grew up next to a cornfield too - right here in Silicon Valley, back before it got developed all to heck. It was a family farm and they used to sell their crops at a little stand on the corner of the field. I miss that...sigh!

Check out Tony Jackson a black Country singer singing Real Country!! Also dont forget about Linda Martell, first black female to chart on Billboard country singles. Then there was Milwaukee's own Ruby Falls.

I admit, I'm one of them - and boy, am I glad to be set straight!! But yeah, my mom used to love to listen to Charley Pride, and my stepmom to other country singers. I admit, hearing about black country singers was kinda novel since I only ever saw white people (any wonder why it's such a big thing in the Deep South?) in the country genre. But then, like I said, I knew already about Charley Pride from my mom, and then there was that one young singer who sang the tongue-in-cheek (and quite catchy) "I Played Chicken with a Train". (Was his name Cowboy George or something like that?) Then (oh gosh, I hate that I forgot the name of the group) sang one of my new favorites "You Can Have Him, Jolene" - a funny what-if rebuttal to Dolly Parton's famous ditty. I know Lil Nas X sang a song (not sure if it's country) and in the video had older Michael J Fox as Marty McFly as Clint Eastwood in a cameo. So yeah, I'm curious to hear Beyonce's song. I bet she can change many a mind that black people don't know country!

Thanks for the education. Very informative! I rocked with her & Destiny's Child in my 30s. After bartending for over a decade, I've become a huge country fan. I was happy and now enjoy her in my older years with her country stuff. I don't know why folks are upset about this?

It's not because of a black person in country music... It's because it's Beyonce!

@@jsin44 I guess people are shocked about a pop singer who crosses over into another genre. But hey, if she wants to do it, why not?

It is not a stretch/or reach, and the history, of a skewed music industry, in their reluctance, to promote black musician, created a sling shot, of talent, that to this day out shines ‘a heap’ of country musicians. It’s just that the proof is strong..🤔

Her country music has a different style. This album got got everyone moving go and dancing! ❤️. I'm also a fan of jellyroll and I hope my head don't get chewed off, but his stuff is nearly country rap... So they are both country, just different speeds. I still don't understand what all the fuss about?? They are both great in there own right!!

@@mariedrake1291 Sure! It's fun to breathe new life into a well-established genre of music. It keeps it fresh, especially for new generations of potential fans.

EVERY race from every era contributed a great deal to country and rock n roll. To put it simply, it's really a matter of personal preference; on both the part of the artist and the listener..
