Thank you for the video. Instead of weighting the ERP by revenue should you use operating cash flows to account for expenses, taxes and other country specific costs.

Professor, I understand for completeness you want to rate all countries. But in reality there is no avenue to invest into many small EM or Frontier countries. Many don't have ETFs, or their volumes are too small for comfort.

How come do UAE and Abu Dhabi have different entries in the country risk profiles? I recognize how Abu Dhabi may be safer than UAE in general, but at that point, why not break other important states / provinces out, i.e. California, City of London, etc.? Is it mostly due to the existence of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority? I would imagine that this is an issue with how your data sources report the information, but still.

We can see the country risk on the rise in the last couple of weeks and months. Businesses should be more wary of where they want to operate and invest.

Europe and China only produces 38% of the food consumed. Everything else is imported. Russia fertilizer, #1 in the world, is not coming back soon even if the conflict ended today. . Best guess heard from USA Agencies is 2.8 Billion people are about to starve to death. Egypt imports over 95% of their food. Seems like a Food Risk Index should be added.

Unfortunately, corruption in the US goes from consumers to businesses. Just look at how much Americans pay for internet compared with other advanced economies.

My problem with bottom up betas is that sector and leverage are not the only things that should be taken into account. What about company's specific risk?

calculate the company's market value of debt and use the company's market D/E ratio to releverage the beta

Diversified investors should not worry about company specific risk.

@@vivekkalavadiya7692 I understand your point, in case of professor Damodaran it is obvious that specific risks cancel out, but I have 10-15 stocks and I feel that I have to be much more alert on individual company risk.

@@nebojsascepanovic7277in one of aswaths first few classes he talks about this and offers formulas for such cases. However he makes a very strong case against such lack of diversification as risk that has no rational basis for compensation, as it’s created by inappropriate investor choices

That Indian disease corruption that one of reason why Indian leaving India. In time of war not many Indian willing to give money to Indian government like they did in 1965 and 1971 wars. Especially Punjabi given most in last wars. Future war punjabi will be least to contribute to India, Indian government now why?.

I am sorry professor, but i completly disagree with these assessments: By country risk I belive you should mention that these are countries that are at risk of western sanctions, . Your logic implies that one should only invest in the west USA/Europe but we know quite clear that there more billionaire in china and russia than in the EU and US. If a country is not an ally of the west that alone should not disqualify them from investment opportunities. Australia has proven to be a more like a dictatorship in recent years and things got even worse during the pandemic, I urge you to remove Australia from your list.

Loll the first thing he said, it's that he don't judge and take the data from external entities. BTW, the number of billionaires it's not an indicator, specifically in countries when there's big disparity among richness. Also it's not because you are a country with a high level of corruption that there's no opportunities. But I went to Russia and other countries and let's say you need to know someone and pay a fee to run your business smoothly... im not judging but it's a fact at least from my experience
