Love the smoked chicken nuggets idea! This small pellet smoker is definitely more accessible from a portability and storage perspective. Thanks for the detailed review from the Barbecue Lab!

Bought this grill in part due to this review right at a year ago. It is our camper grill and has been used every time we've been camping since. The simplicity is what is so great about this grill and as long as you keep the hopper cleaned out just like every pellet grill, it has worked great every time. By the way, Country Smokers has them for $175, which is what I got if for. Bottom line is for the money, you will be thrilled.

This thing is amazing. Replaced a problematic Traeger Scout with this and man, this thing is hands down superior. Not only does it function correctly, the little things Dansons thought of make all the difference. Rubber feet that don’t fall off like the Traeger Scout’s do, a removable IEC power cord (the Scout’s is fixed and, a pain), a straight forward and accurate controller with a P setting that is plainly labeled, more cooking area, a searing vent, a heat diffuser that actually covers the entire cooking area without letting grease get in around the edges and in to the hopper. Right now you can order one for $194 shipped direct from the website. That’s a steal for the quality you’ll get with this unit. Great review!

Appreciate your un-boxing and review video on this unit. Couple of questions/ideas: 1) Maintenance tips for this unit (and other units would be appreciated). 2) Better explanation/example than the owner's manual for normal vs manual ignition sequence. 3) General gear review (gloves/cleaning/etc...). Saw your video about the foil for cleaning the grates, but anything else would be great! Keep the recipes coming.

I just received mine. Started it straight out of the box, set it to smoke, and all it does is ignite a HUGE fire that went through the grease tray/racks and was hitting the top of the cover. Temp got over 500 degrees!!

Does it has a ash tray to collect the ash from the pellet...

We just purchased one and will use it for the 1st time tonight. The one thing I wish they would add would be a disconnect switch for the igniter to make it easier to manually light the grill and use a 12 volt inverter to run the grill while RV boondocking.

I love mine. It fits in the side box on my Peterbilt 379. I did add handles to the ends of the lid, to make it easier for me to move. I have stopped, grilled and consumed a ribeye (rare) and been back on the road in 45 minutes. I highly recommend it for the portability, and ease of use.

How many watts does it use I'm a truck driver and I think this would be a nice upgrade
@TheBarbecueLab3 жыл бұрын
I don’t know the exact wattage, that might be something Danson’s customer service could answer. The most power it’ll need is powering the hot rod that lights the pellets during startup. After that, it’s just turning the auger and running the internal fan, and those don’t pull much current.

Can the grill be manually lit? My truck has a 400 watt inverter but the hotrod will draw too many watts.
@TheBarbecueLab5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure Doug, primarily because I'm not certain how the startup process will react to the hot rod not being able to be lit. You could certainly use a torch to light the pellets that are in the fire cup, and they'll light additional pellets that are added, but I'm just not sure about how the electronic ignition process would react to not being able to light the hot rod. If the electronics were good with the fire being lit without using the hot rod, then you'd be good to go, but I'm not 100% on the answer here. Anyone else tried lighting it yourself?

What about a turkey? I have a small family and don’t need an industrial size smoker. Will this work? Looking for about an 8 pound turkey
@TheBarbecueLab2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure there's enough height for a turkey in this unit. You'd have to spatchcock it for sure, but I'm still not sure there's room for that. A turkey is a tall order for most portable pellet grills from my experience.
@clearush4 жыл бұрын
but how do you clean out the ash from the burn cup??
@TheBarbecueLab4 жыл бұрын
Like most pellet grills, this one will need vacuumed out every 2-3 cooks. We use a Shop Vac with a small hose nozzle.

This looks EXACTLY (except for the thermometer on the lid) as the ASMOKE AS300S tabletop pellet grill.

What is the power source for this ?
@TheBarbecueLab5 жыл бұрын
It ships with a standard AC adapter power cable. I've seen some people modify them to work on other power options though.
@chrisquin95 жыл бұрын
So can this work away from a power source ?
@TheBarbecueLab5 жыл бұрын
@@chrisquin9 In order for the smoker to work, you need to have power to the fan and auger at a minimum. The igniter pulls most of the current at the start, and the fan and auger can be powered by battery if you modify it. Out of the box, this unit requires AC power to operate.

Asmoke asked us to review their unit, but we had already reviewed this unit from Country Smokers, and you're right... They do look very much alike. Almost like 2 companies working off the same blueprint somehow.

I have a question: will this grill hold up to a several hour smoke at high temps like the big smokers will? Im worried about it melting during an 8 hour shoulder smoke

I got one last week and took it camping. I was skeptical about the quality but after using it I would highly recommend this smoker. Perfect for a portable smoker. I did a 10 hour smoke on a pork shoulder at 250 with no problem. I also felt like it was pretty efficient too

How come pit boss don't say they own that
@TheBarbecueLab4 жыл бұрын
My guess is that Dansons (the parent company) acquired Country Smokers, and they're keeping it a separate brand just like Louisiana Grills, Pit Boss, and the other 4 or 5 brands that are under the same parent company.
