Track B4 is actually "Midnight In Old Amarillo" which Billy Bowman composed and recorded while with the Texas Playboys in 1956.

Doing some digging I came up with June 1963 as the release date. My dad bought this album in the 60's along with Shot Jackson and the Shady Oak Boys on this same label.

Producer in Nashville used Pete and really liked his playing. Producer had very good success with Sonny James and others.

Steel guitar is one of the things I never got about "country" music. Sure it's got that weepy sound to induce depression in ballads that was so popular with the truckers, but hardly seemed "country" to me. Steel guitars belong in Hawaiin music, not country.

Are you totally deranged? You are most certainly a minority with those thoughts. I bet you play tuba in your country band.

Steel guitar is one of the best things ever to happen to country music. In fact it's probably the best thing to happen to most every other kind of music as well!
