(from an aussie) this is not exactly what happened. Here: The dutch discovered australia and named it New Holland. However, they didnt collonize it. Britain only came to australia because no one else was fighting to get it. The dutch left it because they didnt find or know about any of its natrual materials. So, they thought it was just a dry land that had nothing to offer. The english came and colonized it. But, they didnt steal it from the dutch as the dutch never fully wanted it

G'day from NSW, Australia. Just to share, we're Aussie's of Irish ancestry.💚 Our ancestor's origin history to here was the Forced Transportations (bringing of the Convicts) and the later Forced Evictions of Ireland (coming of the free Irish settlers). Convicts were Irish, English, Scottish, children and adults 1788-1868. My Irish ancestors native gaelacht language and cultural customs were banned under foreign British law. Seven years was the standard period of incarceration, for other's, longer. The Irish people's spent generations trying to stop this through their various Rebellions both in Ireland and here, it failed. As a result we're Aussie's.💙 No whinging intended. Also as a result the Australian Aboriginal people's various (250 plus) languages and various differing cultural customs were also banned too during this time. A shared thing, that Empire's weren't good for people's who just wanted to be! I was a 70's child growing up with mate's of Italian, Arabic, part Australian Aboriginal (Dhurag Mob) and English ancestry. We saw ourselves as Aussie's but with our own cultural aspects we were growing up with. My only intention is to share. Go raibh maith agat (Thankyou for reading).🙂
