Rewatching this video I realise it's a great resource for all beginners too, a prime time to feel we have to buy everything we need (and more) at the outset and often make our most costly and regretted purchases. My own tip for your drawer of offcuts/stash remnants is for the front inside of pocket bags that really aren't visible in use. In slip pockets too, I sometimes make the outer front higher to go over the fold & hide the odd fabric lower down where it's really difficult to spot at all or make the entire bottom ⅔rds of a big pocket interior in a toning scrap when the lovely lining fabric is running low. Using scrap white/light fabric there on the 'hidden' pocket lining side can also lift the brightness levels inside dark pockets for people like me with poorer eyesight.

Just rewatched this video. Thank you for the great ideas. I have a box I call "scrappers", I fail by not looking in the box as often as I should. Also, love the fabric swap idea. I have a sewing friend that I share fabric with, but never thought about doing a swap. I love your patterns and tutorials. You all are awesome!

I love the tip for rainbow rivets. I used it on a bag recently after you mentioned it on Instagram. If I'm using cotton for a lining, I will use a solid cotton that coordinates for the zipper pocket lining. I use the same solid for the outside zipper pockets too. It saves some fabric for another lining.

Thank you for these $ saving tips! Well done. Another source that I have is an interior designer - when the fabric samples are outdated, he saves them for me. They are big enough to make small bags/pouches or as features combined with other fabrics. He also gives me his roll ends of upholstery fabrics. Treasure! All free! 🙂

@@CountryCowDesigns I was able to get some fantastic leather recently (speaking of finding ways to buy supplies)! A local leathercrafter, in business for 50 years, making leather goods for high end companies (Gucci, Armani, and others) is retiring. Top quality American and Italian leather for literally a fraction of the price. He also gave me 5 boxes of ‘scraps’ that are all big enough for everything from wallets to bags - beautiful lambskin, lambsuede, calf, buffalo, cow, etc Truly a blessing as I’m on a budget and I tend to give away more things than I sell 😂

Confused, my rivets comes in pairs which means if I only use it for the front then I have a flat back piece hanging out unusable.

I would say Amazon is your best bet. They’re not too expensive so it’s not bad if you damage any. Once you’re more comfortable with them you can spend a little more and get some nicer ones in the colours you like 😁 welcome to the bag making journey 👍🏼
