Another amazing recipe guys!!! Granny is the master of all things food. Can you please tell us Granny's grand-daughter's name? She deserves a lot of credit as without her help I think the number of videos made would be impossible.She is doing most of the prep work now, and I'm sure the clean up. Chaitanya K In early days when food was prepared for 100s of people, food was prepared in open . The fire used for cooking was uncontrollable and lead to mishaps seldom. So the ritual is like a prayer/offering to the fire to avoid any mishap during the cooking process and also that the food so cooked will be healthy and fulfilling for the people. Someone said its Drishti - But drishti is done with salt or water and during the cooking process, mostly halfway of cooking.
