I think after the king’s death ,the empire was giving to his three son which separated it in différents empire . They mostly spoke Latin ,gaulois ,gallo-roman ( mix language when the gaule was colonized by the empire roman ) ,francique ( mostly in Germany ,France, Luxembourg and Belgium ) and finally Latin
