Thanks for sharing Eric! Nice to see more info on this. Just to clarify (<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="72">1:12</a>). The inverter features two sets of terminals per MPPT, enabling you to parallel strings directly at the inverter. However, it’s important to note that it does not have two separate trackers. The advantage of having two terminals per MPPT is that you can connect two smaller strings using smaller gauge wires directly to the inverter, rather than combining strings at the array with a combiner box and running larger gauge wire back to the inverter.
@CountryLivingExperienceАй бұрын
Thanks. I may have misread the info on the mppt's. I thought they were similar to the divided trackers in the 12Kpv. Wouldn't be the first time I misread something.
@AdamDeLayDIYАй бұрын
@@CountryLivingExperience No worries. Lots of data to mull over. With the 12kPV, even that just has the ability to parallel 2 strings together into a single tracker. It has 4 sets of terminals but only 2 MPPTs.

@@jordanwitherow6324 I'm not sure what panels EG4 used to get up to the 24kW of solar. I would imagine even though 385V is the top of the "operating range" you may have to get closer to the 480V of the max input range without going over.

I hear you on what the manual says; but, will the thing run on just one EG4 wall mount battery?
@CountryLivingExperience26 күн бұрын
No. Rodney Hunt did an experiment on his channel and the inverter did not run correctly with one battery. You need two of them or get 4 EG4-LL or LifePower batteries.
@byronshepherd841525 күн бұрын
@@CountryLivingExperience thanks for the tip. I went over to watch Rodney's video, and it seems he concluded it works fine, as long as you don't over-draw the battery. It seems, at least to my understanding, that you can use one wallmount battery, but you will NOT be able to utilize the full output of the inverter. But, as long as you're not hitting the battery to the tune of more than 1/2C, you should be ok. Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I fully embrace my Dunning-Kruger
@CountryLivingExperience25 күн бұрын
@@byronshepherd8415 You are correct. I wouldn't want to risk it though. You could have surges in your loads or need a higher draw at some point. Also, the investment in the 12k xp would not be the best financially if that is the case. Just get a 6000xp and use 1 battery at full power.

Does this inverter suffer from the same charging from grid/ gen as the rest. When charging it goes into bypass? I really want the ability to charge from geny while still inverting so I can max out charging and then not overload the Genny when a load in my house kicks in.
@CountryLivingExperience18 күн бұрын
Not sure that is an issue more than a safety feature. One power source at a time. I don't use my genny through my inverters. I use a separate Chargeverter connected to the battery bus bars. That way I can charge the batts separately while running the house on either the grid or the panels.

How many of those wall mount batteries can you hook up to one 12000xp? We are building a new home this spring, and i want to build an off grid solar system for our power. I'd like to run 6 of those wall mount batteries. Will i need another 12000, or would i get one 12000 and one 6000?
@CountryLivingExperienceАй бұрын
You can add 3 batteries per inverter. You would need 2 inverters for 6 batts. Either 2 6000xp's or 2 12000xp's. You can't mix the 6000 and 12000 unless you get really creative with your wiring.

So to clarify how many panels do you need to charge two batteries and to provide power from the inverter at the same time? Are they saying you need 24000 watts of solar panels?🙏
@CountryLivingExperienceАй бұрын
They are not saying you *need* 24k watts, that is the maximum that the inverter can take. You can start with 3 or 6 panels if you want. Those panels would need to just have a voltage combined in series of at least 120 volts for proper operation and no more than 480v. A good range is between 120 and 385 volts for each string for each mppt (charge controller) in the inverter. For example you could have only 3 panels that are 41v each, run them in series (which adds their voltage to 123v), then the inverter will work and charge batteries. The questions always is....How long will it take to charge batteries while running loads? The answer is.....The more the better. We did a video on this here.....kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHy1o5SKpaehfdE That may help.

You might use (some of) that potential 72kW power for a swimming pool filter/heater system. Maybe you have a good sized wood and/or metal shop? Charge up your electric fence to "Super-Max" levels maybe? Have a BUNCH of computers mining crypto currency as another option, along with running your air-conditioning super hard to keep them cool. I agree, other than redundancy, going for 6 would be more than a little bit silly! Can you do a hardwire ethernet to connect to the inverter or does it HAVE to be WiFi? If it has to be WiFi that would make it difficult if you put the inverter(s) and batteries in a freestanding building a short distance from the house.
@CountryLivingExperienceАй бұрын
I think there is a way to hardwire ethernet but I do not know how personally. I have heard it is possible but one will have to sit on the phone with the EG4 guys for a while. Good day Eric. We have 16 wooden acres that we're currently building a 3 shipping container home on. What would you recommend for a 100% offgrid situation? We're not pulling from the local grid at all. We will be on solar, propane, and the occasional generator for charging batteries in case of extended periods without sunlight. We're in central arkansas. Would love to hear your thoughts :-)
@CountryLivingExperienceАй бұрын
Good question. It is really going to depend on what you loads are. I am not sure what you are running at your new home. You'll have to do that calc to get a better picture. That said, you will have to decide if redundancy is right for you (with a few 6000xp's) or just having one unit like the 12000xp. I would stick with one of the pure off-grid inverters because you would not need the grid interactive features of a Hybrid inverter. The off-grids are cheaper too. We also have a Victron system for our barn which seems to be bulletproof.

I live in Michigan. Can I run 100 feet 2/2/2/4 aluminum mobile home feeder wire out of the home to hook up the Eg4 inverter to the (pv) solar panels to save money because I need to run the solar panels out about 350 feet to my open field! I'm going to have 4 sets of wires (6 awg) for the Eg4 inverter for all my solar panels. Then I have 100 feet 2-2-2-4 wire hook up to one house then I have another house about 50 feet away and this system is all hooked together. Can this Eg4 inverter run through the whole system this way I'm talking about? Because it works on the electric grid? Can I have a 100 amp breaker box for this system? And what size of sub breaker box do I need because I think I have 50 amps sub breaker boxes for the other two houses.
