Russia is good choice. It follows traditional family values. People prefer buying food from farmers markets. Many Russians have countryside houses with a plot of land, where they spend summer and weekends growing vegetables and fruit. In autumn, Russians make their own preserves. There's no tradition of making maple syrup there. But in early spring they collect birch sap. All Russians are into home remedies, even those who live in big cities. When visiting Russian friends, you might find in their kitchen a big jar with kombucha mushroom. It's for making kombucha drink. They will teach you how to make your own raspberry jam for winter. It's used for lowing down the fever. I am sure that you moved to the right place for your family ❤

Our growing season will be a lot longer where we are moving too. Still would like a greenhouse though.

Our small, simple cold frame has allowed us to have salad for weeks now. So many things you can do to extend the growing season. Huge compost piles that can be tapped for heating a greenhouse. It will be interesting to see you build your homestead. Prayers for the Lord to lead you. Mrs CB NE Ohio

We would definitely like to add something like that although the growing season is much longer where we are going. I seen gridlessness ih B.C. experimented with compost heating as well, might be something to try for sure. Thank you for your prayers!

Homesteading/subsistence farming as opposed to business farming. That's my future goal with my family as well
@countrysideacreshomestead20084 жыл бұрын
