For the sake of this video, I will call the county and city just Derry. I’m not discouraging the use of Londonderry, if that’s the name you prefer to use, continue to call it that.

One small correction: Derry is the 5th largest urban area on the island of Ireland. Limerick is 4th though both are very similar in population.

I actually live in Derry! Derry, New Hampshire, that is. Yes, here across the Atlantic, we have two towns right next to each other. One is named Derry, and the other is named Londonderry. However, unlike our Irish twins, these Derry's actually get along! Aside from high school sports rivalries, we get along great. I'm glad to see you mentioned the existence of my local Derry's. Admittedly, I do a double take every time I see the Irish (London)Derry get mentioned online, as I always get confused thinking they're referring to the town I live in, but it's a neat fact regardless.

I'm from the Irish Derry. People here are very proud on both sides. We can coexist for the most part. I'm a nationalist living in a unionist neighbourhood. Although I wouldn't go around advertising it. Better to just keep my head down and get on with it. They'd burn the Irish flag in protestant hoods and Catholics would burn the union jack. Most people wouldn't care that I'm a Catholic, unless I do something that might seem disrespectful to them. flying an Irish flag outside my house or wearing a Boston Celtics jersey out and about wouldn't be a good idea. They are against anything to do with Irish culture. My old home was in a Catholic place right next to a Protestant one and there would be fighting around the summer time as kid off for summer and unionist holidays are around that time.

It's not a mistake. Meath does have a 17km coastline between the Rivers Boyne and Delvin, the 2nd shortest of any county. Sorry for changing your life!

Whilst there was a settlement of Derry before it became Londonderry. It's the other way round for the county - Londonderry came first. Why because County Londonderry was created out of County Coleraine and those parts of Donegal, Tyrone, & Antrim it pinched.

Coleraine is pronounced "coal-rain" and mount sandel isn't just one of the oldest human settlements on the island of ireland it is the oldest known settlement.

Also this video is false our city has the biggest Halloween festival in Europe, it also has some of the best pubs in the North of Ireland..it has some of tge most talented musicians in Ireland and the uk...Londonderry/derry is one of the friendliest places to visit in northern ireland, and it has the oldest un breached city walls because the protestants defied the Catholic King James siege and the walls still stand today

From my experience visiting NI, Derry seems much more divided on Ireland and UK' than Coleraine, Belfast, and the eastern parts of NI, which appear to be still largely pro UK. This is consistently represented in voting outcomes which are largely the same at each UK general election. The DUP tend to perform well in the east and Sinn Fein in the west, (which of course never take up their seats in Westminster on principle). The use of "London" or Derry is still a sensitive topic in the city and the wider isle. Renaming the town is unlikely to work as Irish reunification supporters would still want the town to be known as Derry or a similar "Irish" sounding name. In light of Brexit, perhaps there should be a discussion on a referendum to finally end the question of NI destiny?. On the other hand it may lead to renewed violence and the losing side may continue to fight on regardless. As far as Geography goes, the border of Derry with Donegal lies 2/3miles north west of the town, and it zig-zags across the countryside in a complex fashion, with few markers or natural boundaries to distinguish the international border other than the ever-visible road signs, which show a change in speed from km hr to mph and dfferent road-markings. NI continues to be an oddity in the UK union as an overseas province with a very chequered and divided history.
