The only reason Maine is high in taxes is cuz of the Flatlanders coming here n raising the rents n everything else thru the fuckin roof

Better check out the property taxes and state income taxes before buying. Maine is a welfare state and known for high taxes.

Maine's taxes are cheaper than MA, VT, CT, and other New England states. And, while it may have been true 25 years ago, and there are poorer areas (old mill towns) we're definitely not a "welfare state" any more. Also, despite the poorer areas, we still have some of the lowest crime numbers in the country. Mainers are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. (Some of the vacationers and transplants from NYC, NJ, CT are snotty and annoying.)
