...so with microphones there's a tradeoff for each kind. Headset mics do allow the girls to have both hands free, but the microphone is in a fixed position which doesn't allow them to adjust for louder or softer sounds (you would move a handheld closer or farther away depending on the volume). Also headset mics have a tendency to have connection issues, in part of the Coachella performance they did have headset mics, but if you look at the back of the girls during those parts they had double packs on their back in case one failed. Not only is it heavier but they need to have the wiring running up their backs, and in case the headset failed it's a nightmare to switch out. They also had a box with spare packs at the front of the stage. I agree though, it detracts from the choreo ( I would have preferred a headset mic during Rosé's solo stage) but I assume they're doing what feels best for them to deliver a dependable performance. (all artists dread mic failure as it becomes a KZbin viral video immediately)
