Interpretation of Diana and Brandon’s song “In a Huge City”: The great Russian poetess Marina Tsvetaeva gave birth (not “wrote”!) poems with a quality of meaning inseparable from the sound of her words in Russian. It is IMPOSSIBLE to understand the meaning of these poems, or rather, these sounds without perceiving their Russian sound (try translating Kipling, or Byron, or Shakespeare into Russian, and then back into English!!). This is exactly what Diana and Brandon are doing in this song - the correspondence of meaning and sounds. This cannot be explained in words: how to add up the sum of meanings and the sound of speech??!! This can only be heard by the soul. To hear, repeating this combination of melody, words and sounds of instruments many times, the main one - Diana's voice - the most complex of them. One piece of advice - take the simplest of Marina’s images separately (night, wind, black poplar, light from the window, ringing from the tower, “And this is the shadow, but not me,” “Friends, understand that you are dreaming about me”) ...and listen, listen, listen to Diana's voice... And you will enter the door of this Universe - through the beauty paved by Diana and Brandon.

Толкование песни Дианы и Брендона «В огромном городе»: Великая русская поэтесса Марина Цветаева рождала (не «писала»!) стихи с качеством смыслов, неотделимых от звучания её слов на русском языке. Понимать смысл этих стихов, а точнее - эти её звуки без восприятия русского звучания их - НЕВОЗМОЖНО (попробуйте-ка перевести Киплинга, или Байрона, или Шекспира - на русский, - а потом - обратно на английский!!). Именно этим - соответствием смысла и звуков заняты Диана и Брендон в этой песне. Это невозможно объяснить словами: как сложить сумму смыслов и звук речи ??!! Это можно только услышать душой. Услышать, много раз повторив это сочетание мелодии, слов и звуков инструментов, главный из которых - голос Дианы - сложнейший из них. Один совет - воспринимайте отдельно простейшие из образов Марины (ночь, ветер, чёрный тополь, свет из окна, звон с башни, « И тень - вот эта, а меня - нет», «Друзья, поймите, что я вам - снюсь»)... и слушайте, слушайте, слушайте голос Дианы… И вы войдёте в дверь этой Вселенной - через красоту, проложенную Дианой и Брендоном.

Marina Tsvetaeva wrote the poem "In a huge city" back in 1916 after breaking off relations with her beloved Sofia Boyuk and returning to her husband and daughter. It was a period of depression, mental emptiness and insomnia in a huge city. Very modern, isn't it? The poetess explained her unusual connection very simply and succinctly. She said that love between women is wild, and loving only men is very boring. But she called her relationship with Sofia "the first disaster in her life." Diana and Brandon brilliantly conveyed the state of mind of the poetess at that time.

Wikipedia says that Maria Tsvetaeva is a poet of the twentieth century, not a composer. These are poems by Tsvetaeva, not Ankudinova. As far as I know, Dimash is a student of a Russian producer and composer
