you might want to test the cistern to see if it holds water. Have that big truck full of water come and empty the truck into the cistern, then measure the water level periodically to see if the level remains constant. you should do this before the rains come, this is important since they are shutting off water supply in your area. if it does not hold you would have to repair with a new liner and this time do not cut the liner. put outside pipes over edge of liner, not through it.

You two have shown me the pioneer spirit that our ancestors had building homesteads . I have always marveled at the thousands of acres of land that was cleared for farming with the removal of huge trees in my area. Cutting them down was hard enough but removing the root system monumental . Just keep moving forward with commitment is the secret and never giving up. Thank you .

Well that tells me just how much time I'm saving myself to pay due premium. I normally hate paying the upgrade for free services but it got to the point of an ad every minute. By the time you get done, you have to watch again to figure out what you lost track is with all the SFAs (stupid ads).

Used to make the liners at Seamans in Bradenton Florida. I help feed the thick black vinyl through the rotary welder. I would drag it back, across the floor, then climb up on a heavy crate, and feed it to the welder operator. So I would lift it up over my shoulder, and give her enough slack to smoothly make the welds. Wrestling with liners in triple digits, makes for a lot of sweat.

We plan to do a similar structure, starting this spring. Thank you. A few questions: 1) What literature and videos you used prior to begin doing it? 2) How did you keep each layer of earth bags level? How well leveled it should be? 3) Where did you get a liner and how to properly line it? 4) What earth bags would you recommend? 5) What kind of homemade level did you make to level the bottom of the excavation? 6) How did you rise the poles from the center to keep it level with each layer of earth bags 7) Shasugi ban for the roof, is new for us. Where we can find more info? Do we buy a specific wood? Where to buy a torch for it? What oil and brash do you use? How did you secured the rafters and trusses and to what did you secure the wood that is on the bags? 8) Did you have to get permits and inspections for this construction? If yes, then exactly what? 9) Why you choose a cylindrical shape instead of rectangular prism?

Excellent questions I had not Eben thought to ask. I await the answered. I came here to learn why the barbed wire is used and a little detail as to where to place it on the bags.

I think cement would have been my choice. You have a mixer, rebar, sand, and water. A few sheets of Masonite and some Portland. Saving the cost of the liner. But you learned from it, and experience is golden. 40 bags per yard³ isn't cheap either.

i think in this case if you used hyperadobe earthbags you would have saved up a lot of labor. since you`re building basement walls, just trowing the sand in a continuos loop bag and compacting is faster and easier. instead of carry each sand and filling bags each time.
