This song is an example of how Queen can change the arrangement of a song and make it totally different. "A Kind Of Magic", composed by Roger, is part of the score that Queen wrote for the film "Highlander". The phrase “a kind of magic” is used in the "Highlander" film by the Connor MacLeod character (Christopher Lambert) as a description of his immortality. Roger liked the phrase so much that he used it as inspiration for the song. There are references to the film in the lyrics: “one prize, one goal”; “no mortal man”; and “there can be only one”. The single’s cover art features an image of Clancy Brown in character as the film’s villain, The Kurgan. Roger wrote the melody and chords for the version that appeared in the film, which Brian described as “quite lugubrious and heavy”. But Freddie became a bit obsessed with the song. He really liked it but heard it differently in his head. So while Roger was on holiday, Freddie changed the song. He composed a new bass line, added instrumental breaks, and changed the song’s order to make it more chart-friendly. Then he produced this new version. Though the song is still credited solely to Roger, he was still annoyed when he returned from holiday and found that Freddie had changed his song. In the end, he admitted it sounded better and more rock and roll, Roger's original version can be heard in the movie but Freddie's arrangement of the song is the one that Queen released and is the version that they performed live. Here is the Roger Taylor arrangement of "A Kind Of Magic" (Highlander Version) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWnQoJWYgNF1iq8.

actually, roger wrote a song that was converted into 2 by freddie, so the writing credits go to both, there is a demo song called its a kind of vision that shows a demo of it, freddie helped spilt it into kind of magic and one vision, as you can see in the one vision documentary he did alot of lyrics in one vision
@Sassypaws49278 ай бұрын
@@topmandog1 Sorry but you are confused. Freddie rearranged the song "A Kind Of Magic" but the band collectively rewrote the song that became "One Vision:. You should watch the video about the making of "One Vision" kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqTWgZyqp9aCjq8
